Sixties And The Negro Revolution
by
R.E. Prindle
Men in positions of great power have been forced to realize that their aspirations and responsibilities have exceed the horizons of their own experience, knowledge and capability. Yet, because they are in charge of this high-technology society, they are compelled to do something.
–Fletcher Prouty: JFK, The CIA and Vietnam
Society chooses not to see the most obvious things. Living back in the fifties any idea of a Negro revolt or race war was carefully hidden even if any White person even suspected what was going on in the Negro mind. Writing here in 2014 many things about the Negro revolt that were unrecognized or supposedly debatable have become clear. In my account then I will relate to the past, the present of the Sixties and the future being realized today.
The Negroes have always claimed that racism is endemic to White Americans. This attitude misses that the point of the actual differences between Homo Sapiens and Homo Africanus species. If the species were undifferentiated then ‘racism’ could be claimed but where the two different species have obvious different capabilities then the problem is shifted to another plane.
We are told that the African was the first edition, Homo 1.0, of Homo Sapiens which implies that the Last Homonid Predecessor to the Negro was sub-human. Unfortunately the record of all the immediate predecessors to Homo Africanus have disappeared from the Earth without a trace. We have a multi-million year gap between ancient homonids and Africanus, so we really don’t know when the supposedly sub-human and the human begins. We are told that only 2% of our genes differentiate ourselves from the Chimps which is all very well and good but what was the genetic difference between the LHP and Africanus? A gene or two? And if a gene or two can make a difference between sub-human and human who is to say that Africanus is not the LHP?
But I digress a little but meaningfully. From the Negro point of view then endemic ‘racism’ is true and if not, it should be. As White mental capabilities are of a higher order than that of the Negro the disparate impact of White Supremacy is unavoidable. There is a biological difference in mental capabilities that cannot be eliminated. What differentiated the LHP and Africanus cannot possibly be any more than that. If both were stood side by side one must assume that there would have been no noticeable difference. Perhaps skin tone.
The fact was made even more apparent during the Sixties when violent and criminal programs were enacted by Liberal Whites for the benefit of Africanus or in another word, the Negro. These programs were expanded over the subsequent decades until the Negro ideal of the first being last and the last being first is being realized through the manipulation of political and legal mechanisms today. Thus the least capable is subordinating the most capable.
This program was being effected by the efforts of such people as the president of the Ford Foundation in 1966, McGeorge Bundy. He, the former military advisor of Kennedy and Johnson, knew nothing of military matters, and knew even less of the Negro having known none and quite possibly never having spoken to one determined to ‘lift’ the Negro to White standards. The concept of disparate impact had not yet been invented. One can quite easily see that Liberals considered the Negro inferior else how could they be ‘lifted’ to White standards. That’s the inherent ‘racism’ Negroes complain of.
McGeorge Bundy neither knew nor made any attempt to understand the Negro psychology which he presumed was exactly like White psychology but less so. It was readily admitted and unchallenged that Negroes had an inferior education and hence less well prepared than Whites for the challenges of modern society. The reason was advanced that Negroes were behind because the amount of money spent on their schooling was less than that spent on Whites. Never mind that the money spent on education for anybody in the nineteenth century was infinitesimal whether White or Negro yet the nineteenth century still made incredible scientific advances.
It was decided that the more spent the sooner the gap would be closed but in an absent minded way the gap was always admitted and denied by no one. In that context of White Supremacy the Sixties began with Kennedy’s creation of the pet Liberal idea of the Peace Corps in which White youths recently graduated from college with no worldly experience were sent to ‘underdeveloped’ peoples to lift them up and bring them into the White way of doing things. There seemed to be no attempt to understand how the Uplift Gospel was perceived by the poor colored peoples of the world.
In this way the Negroes were seen as a sort of domestic Peace Corps project in which Whites would teach the Negro to do things the White way. In the eyes of the Negro this was White Supremacy run amuck, an attempt to strip them of their Negritude, which it was. At the same time they could not compete on an equal basis so that the attempted entitlements granted Negroes to remedy the situation enraged the Whites.
Yes, both sides admitted the inability of the Negro to compete in a White technological world where standards were set to ensure the highest standard of public benefit. Negroes rejected he meritocracy in favor of a Negro spoils system. Thus to ensure Negro placement not only were Negroes given an IQ handicap of 20 points or so but standards were lowered to ensure inclusion thus decreasing public benefit for all. The downward spiral had begun.
The downward spiral was much forwarded by the Civil Rights Movement of the post-Brown decision in the fifties and sixties. While the movement was largely the work of New York Jews there was little dissent among Whites who considered the Movement as just as WWII. I never met anyone who, publicly, at least, disagreed with it. For myself I viewed it with much foreboding as I had Brown vs. The Board Of Education. There was too much ill will in Negro grievances for the issue to be settled amicably as events in these years surrounding 2014 are showing.
2.
While Negroes speak of the legacy of slavery, slavery is not the real issue. Negroes were always slaves, slavery was the norm in Africa. One of the first White explorers to penetrate West Africa the incredibly naïve Mungo Park, speaking of eighteenth century West Africa of the Bulge noted that seventy-five percent of the sub-Saharan Africans were slaves to other Africans and were disposable as their owners wished.
Nor were modern contacts with Whites the first that had been made with Africans. Roman roads led through the Sahara from the Med coast into the southern jungles. Even earlier the Carthaginians made long voyages of discovery down the coast of Africa even circumnavigating the continent. These were voyages that took years to make. It was the ancient custom when stores ran low to stop to sow and reap crops so as to continue while water replacement was probably necessary every few days. In addition there were numerous shipwrecks.
Several tribes on the coast of the Bulge have legends of White lawgivers arriving who gave them the rudiments of social and political organization. Apparently previous to these White visitors the Negroes were merely savages huddling around fires.
Thus to some extent the Africans had been semi-civilized learning many Mediterranean legends and religious ideas which accounts for the remarkable similarity between Med and African legends while such legends may have formed the basis of the Yoruba people of Nigeria’s religion that forms the basis of the New World Negro religions going by the name of Voo Doo, Santeria etc.. Whites must have always played a major role in the development of Africans.
When the Semitic people began enslaving Africans isn’t clear but with the coming of Moslemism in the seventh century AD and their sweep across North Africa and the Sahara brought them into contact with the West African tribes. The Moslems, or Arabs, then began a slave trade leading from the jungles and Sahel across the Sahara that existed for a thousand years. Not being particularly tender the slavers either couldn’t tend to their cargo because of the extreme desert conditions or they didn’t care so that the track was littered with a thousand years of bleaching bones.
In the East very early the Arabs worked their way down the coast until they established their southern post on Kilwa Island at the southern end of what is now Tanzania. In whatever manner the East African Arabs turned black so that being an Arab became a cultural matter rather than a racial one. The Arabs then nearly depopulated the Sudan by their centuries long raids. They generally took the women and children leaving the men behind.
It was in this area that the African as opposed to Arab tribes took to extending female lips by inserting plates and elongating necks with copper rings in the hope of making their women ugly enough to dissuade the slavers from taking them.
Further South having depopulated the coasts the Arabs moved into the interior across then Tanganyika, now Tanzania, then into the Congo basin where they met the incoming Europeans from the West.
The explorers described the long trains of captured Africans linked by neck yokes making the long thousand mile trek from the Congo to the coast opposite the slave entrepot of the fable island of Zanzibar.
For those who survived the trek there awaited the sweltering ‘tween decks voyage across the Indian ocean on small Arab dhows to be sold in Arabia, the Middle East, Iran and for many India.
The slave trade of Europeans began as a workforce for Brazil and the Caribbean islands including Haiti. Those not sold in the Caribbean were carried to the US North and South. The Negroes who went West were the favored ones occupying the virtual paradise of the Antilles or the fabulous fleshpots of the then British American colonies soon to be the US. No better thing ever happened to Negroes.
Nor is it to be supposed that slavery was confined to the South or limited to Negroes. Not long after New World slavery began Oliver Cromwell invaded Ireland where he rounded up tens of thousands of male and female Irishers selling them into slavery in the Antilles where they labored in the fields cheek by jowl with the Negroes. There are apparently settlements of these ex-Irish slaves in the islands today.
Negro slavery existed in all the colonies North and South in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as well as into the nineteenth century. The repeal of slavery began in the Rhode Island colony in 1652, Massachusetts and New Hamphire in 1783, Connecticut in 1784, Pennsylvania in 1847 and New York in 1848.
In 1808 the Federal government made it illegal to import slaves. Canada outlawed slavery only in 1819.
Indentured servants who we were taught were kitchen help or like service were in very many instances actual slaves. Originally used in the fields they died in large numbers from exposure. Negroes used to torrid temperatures while walking around naked were brought in to replace them but both races worked the fields cheek by jowl where much miscegenation undoubtedly took place.
The date of the passage of laws banning slavery does not mean slavery in those places ended on that date as clauses extended existing bondage for several years. It is more than likely that some slaves existed in all or most states in 1863 the date of the Emancipation proclamation. That proclamation did not outlaw slavery per se merely emancipating the slaves in the seceded States.
The key event in US slavery took place in the French colony of Haiti culminating in the massacre or enslavement of the Whites in 1804.
The Haitian slaves had originally revolted in 1791. A cadre of revolutionaries had arisen in France sometime in the 1780s who made it a point to agitate the Antillean slaves including Haiti. The Haitian revolution was successful as the Jacobins in France outlawed slavery in the French empire in 1794. The agitators then turned their eyes toward the slavery in the new United States of 1793.
The Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 if not directed at these Jacobin agitators were used against them. The Acts expired in 1801 during Jefferson’s term so agitators were then able to function freely. Thus the Abolitionist movement began in the North especially among the East Anglian descendants of New England.
In this air of anti-slavery agitation the seven year old republic was alarmed at the news of the San Domingo Moment of 1804 in Haiti when the Negroes rose up and slaughtered the White men of the island. The White women were given the choice of death or becoming sex slaves to the Haitian men. Most chose life under this condition. Those who didn’t were gang raped and tortured to death. The horrors true and imagined caused a frisson of fear to run up the backs of Americans North and South. As noted slavery was still legal is many Northern States at the time.
While the Jacobins had outlawed slavery in 1794 Napoleon reinstated it in 1802. In the resultant reaction the Negro revolutionary Toussaint L’Ouverture led the slaves to victory over large French armies. Toussaint then became as or more famous than his contemporary George Washington. He was celebrated in poems and stories by such worthies as William Wordsworth of England and John Greenleaf Whittier of the United States.
As the noted historian Matthew J. Clavin details in his wonderful history Toussaint Louverture and the American Civil War: The Promise and Peril of a Second Haitian Revolution the Abolitionists kept Toussaint’s reputation alive while exciting the country into what might well have been a revolution forcing the Southern States into secession to protect not only their interests but their lives.
With the success of the first Haitian slave revolt Napoleon may well have thought New Orleans was next so rather lose it all for expense chose to sell the Louisiana territory to the US for some recompense. Either the US was uber confident in its ability to manage the situation or they weren’t yet well informed on the Haitian situation. In any event the choice was between the devil and the deep blue sea. Imagine an alternate history in which Negroes revolted from French rule in New Orleans forming a Negro empire opposed to the US.
It should be remembered that New Orleans was the northern anchor of the French Antillean empire that stretched from there down through Haiti and the islands to South America. In the event then Whites and possibly Negroes with their retinues of slaves fled to New Orleans causing irruptions in what was then the United States. And of course many Whites fled to cities of the East Coast carrying their stories with them north of the Mason-Dixon line.
With the results of Haiti in mind Jacobins or Abolitionists entered the South between then and 1860 to agitate the Negroes to murder the men and possess their women as they had done in Haiti. This was a very serious problem in the South undoubtedly influencing the desire for Secession.
There was small difference between the acts of the Abolitionists and Robespierre’s Jacobins in France. Their attitude was to motivate Liberals from their day to this. If the Abolitionists hadn’t been restrained post-war by leveler Northern heads it is not impossible that they wouldn’t have taken the guillotine to every Southern head. That would have meant the genocide of millions. Believe me those guys were savage and insane, possessed by an irrevocable idee fixe that continues to this day.
The Southerners realizing their peril organized the first Klan waging a guerilla war against Northern carpet baggers and Negroes to assure their own survival. They fought hard while their Northern allies restrained the looneys in Washington. One of their kind, a current professor at UColumbia in NYC named Eric Foner, has labeled the Civil War/Reconstruction as America’s Unfinished Revolution which he is working to complete today.
Thus one can say the hostilities begun in 1860 are continuing into the present. The Southerners succeeding in their counterrevolution established the period of Jim Crow to contain the Abolitionists and Negroes. The net result of both Haitian Revolutions then was the near total suppression of Negroes for a mere seventy-seven years. The Negro counter reaction has been waged now for sixty some years.
Toussaint L’Ouverture then could be seen as the Che Guevara of his time. If T-shirts had been the mode his countenance would have been seen everywhere, at least North of the Mason-Dixon line. As it was, in the mode of the time, Wordsworth and Whittier composed poems in his honor. The Abolitionists roamed the South promoting another San Domingo Moment.
The radical wish was proven in the Reconstruction period after the war. Reconstruction was perhaps the most shameful period in world history, dwarfing the Jewish holocaust of more recent memory. The Abolitionists of the North were absolutely barbaric in their treatment of the Whites and their adoration of Negroes who were but little removed from savagery. There was a small difference between the acts of the Abolitionists and Robespierre’s Jacobins in France.
The genocidal mindset of the Haitian Negroes in 1804 has been carried forward from then until today when Negroes aided by their Jewish allies are calling for the total extermination of one billion Whites. What is the psychology behind that?
3.
I think the answer is contained in the term White Supremacy.
As I have said the Arab slavers in Africa became black so that one had black Arabs enslaving black Africans. The Arabs were thus on the same intellectual level as the Negroes while the Negroes had been enslaving and eating each in much the same way for hundreds if not thousands of years.
What the world learned to its chagrin during the colonial period in Africa is that Whites are more capable than the coloreds. The fear that motivates Negroes, Jews and the rest of the coloreds is that they are actually less mentally capable than the Whites, hence in personal terms, inferior.
The term White Supremacy is actually self explanatory. The fact was that and is that Whites- Aryans- are intellectually superior. This is totally obvious to the naked eye although the scientific evidence of genetics indicates the same thing. Whites then, whether they wished to or not, looked down on Negroes as inferior while holding themselves aloof forbidding White women to even look at Negroes. This attitude especially concerning women angered Negroes more than can be said.
So much of White culture and inventive ability must have seemed like magic to the Negroes. Physically there wasn’t much difference. One on one without guns the White man and Negro were more or less equals. Thus when the explorer Stanley with his gun held before him was admonishing a group of Negroes, one out of sheer frustration of this runt speaking to him as he did, snatched the gun from Stanley’s hands. At that point Stanley’s power would have vanished had not his Negro gun bearer snatched the gun back handing it to Stanley restoring his power.
Thus the difference in the Negro mind was technological or intellectual superiority which he disregards as a trick or magic. The mental disparity make the two species unequal hence the insistent demand for equality at any cost. So far the appearance of equality has only been obtained by tilting the field in favor of the Negro.
Imagine the Negro fresh from the jungle stepping into a civilization he couldn’t possibly have imagined as he landed in the colonies. He must have been overwhelmed and shamed. The Jews certainly were when they were transported to Babylon where the scope of that civilization and its architecture made Israel and its comparatively shabby temple that they were so proud of appear insignificant.
Consider the country rube’s first look at New York City. I had seen big cities like SF, LA, Chicago and Philly but I mean to tell I was overawed by the endless streets of skyscrapers and the intense hustle and bustle.
As far as Magic goes just consider that little hand held device the Smart Phone. Not only can you call anywhere in the world, carry an entire encyclopedia in the your pocket, send letters by email and unbelievably take photographs and transmit them instantaneously anywhere in the world and if you’ve forgotten where you’ve parked your car the Smart Phone will locate it for you and show you where it is. Magic don’t you think?
Who invented such a device? White people. Who can use it? Anyone, even if you’re fresh from the jungle. It’s operation is that simplified. That’s what White people can do and others can’t.
Like it or not Negroes can’t. We know it; they know it too. So as much as they rail against White Supremacy its there and all they can do is eradicate it by exterminating Whites.
So the hatred is not really rooted in slavery; they have always known slavery but in fact that they can never be equal so, if you follow, the lack of equality is the real and only issue. It cannot be resolved in the Negro’s favor.
4.
By 1877 the Southern Whites had re-established White Supremacy placing the Negro back under control for seventy-seven years until Brown vs. The Board of Education released them to murder and plunder once again.
Along the way the war always simmered along sometimes bursting into a boil. The war years of 1914-18 and the early twenties were especially volatile. On the one hand Marcus Garvey established his Universal Negro Improvement Association and on the other with White men off fighting in Europe industrialists encouraged Negroes to move North to replace Whites in the factories. What has been called the Great Migration began.
While Marcus Garvey was trying to organize global Negroes and actually succeeded in establishing branches in forty some countries the migration of Negroes North was instrumental in strengthening his hand.
In the UNIA battle Whites succeeded in stopping Garvey although Garveyism had a lasting effect worldwide. The Northern invasion was stoutly resisted by Whites in the twenties as battles erupted in sites such as Chicago, Oklahoma City and especially East St. Louis, Illinois. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled in East St. Louis Negroes occupied the town. It was theirs and has remained so.
Warfare cooled down after the battles of the early twenties. The next big eruption occurred in Detroit during WWII when there was a massive battle.
As usual Negroes returning from WWII came back with different notions of race relations. They were reluctant to observe Jim Crow. Their Liberal allies had their back. In 1954. Jim Crow was defeated by the Brown vs. Board Of Education Supreme Court decision and actually implemented by Pres. Eisenhower which he didn’t have to do.
The Court determined that it could make laws without the aid of the legislatures. Henceforth the courts became social arbiters rather than legal interpreters. Fairly low level judges could on their own initiative and according to their own prejudices declare any law or the voter’s will null and void by their simple say so. The White side of the war had been legally emasculated. Why anyone would observe one man’s opinion has always been beyond me.
Thus as the war turned into the period of the Civil Rights Movement of the struggle White warriors were not only taking on the White Liberals and Negroes but the whole legal and political order. The federal government in almost a repeat of the post-Civil War Reconstruction sent armored divisions of the Army into the South to impose the illegal Supreme Court decision on Southern White school children.
At the same time emboldened by the Supreme Court decision Negroes in the South arose in an assault on White Jim Crow rule most especially in Alabama.
Virtually unnoticed at the time the racial balance in the war’s most important battlefield, NYC was quietly shifting. After the war Whites began moving out of New York City while hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans were being airlifted into the city along with other hundreds of thousands of West Indian Negroes. By late century there were more West Indians than their were US born Negroes in NYC.
Thus by 1965 while the population of the city was unchanged a million and a half Whites had left and a million and a half Puerto Ricans and West Indians had replaced them. Gigantic ghettos sprang up in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens.
Thus by 1960 the situation had become quite combustible.

Part One

Men in positions of great power have been forced to realize that their aspirations and responsibilities have exceeded the horizons of their own experience, knowledge and capability. Yet, because they are in charge of this high-technology society, they are compelled to do something.
–Fletcher Prouty, JFK, The CIA And Vietnam
Writing here in 2014 many things about the Negro revolt in the Sixties that were unrecognized or supposedly debatable at the time have become clear. In my account then I will relate to the past, the present of the Sixties and the future being realized today.
The Negroes have always claimed endemic White racism. From their perspective this is true as the disparate impact of White supremacy is unavoidable. The attempt to deny this superiority through Affirmative Action which gives Negroes a handicap of 20 IQ points or so to make them equal admits the fact of the disparity between the two species.
This fact is also apparent by the efforts of people like McGeorge Bundy who assumed the reins of the Ford Foundation in 1966 to ‘lift’ the Negro up to White standards. Bundy neither knew nor made any attempt to understand Negro psychology which he presumed was exactly like White psychology but less developed. In that context the Sixties began with Kennedy’s creation of the Peace Corps in which White youths with no worldly experience were sent to ‘underdeveloped’ peoples too lift them up and show them how to do things the White way. There seemed to be no understanding of how the rhetoric of ‘uplift’ was perceived by the poor coloreds.
The Negroes were seen in much the same way as a sort of domestic Peace Corps in which Whites would teach Negroes manners, so to speak. In Negro eyes this was racism, White supremacy, and destested.
Yet, both sides admitted the inability of the Negro to compete in a White world when standards of ability had been created to ensure the highest standards of public benefit. Thus to ensure Negro placement not only were Negroes given a handicap of 20 points or so but standards were lowered thus decreasing public benefit of all.
While Negroes always speak of the legacy of slavery, slavery is not the issue. Negroes were always slaves, slavery was the norm in Africa. The traveler Mungo Park speaking in the eighteenth century West Africa thought that seventy-five percent of the sub-Saharan Africans were slaves disposable as their owners wished.
It might also be appropriate to point out here that the African social structure such as it was had been given to them by White men. Along the coast of the Bulge several African tribes have legends of White men coming and instructing them in the rudiments of social order. This implies that African society before that was on a hunter gatherer basis.
These legends of White law givers were undoubtedly derived from ship wrecked sailors probably from many different historical periods probably beginning with the Phoenicians or Carthaginians who made many forays down the African coast while they are thought to have circumnavigated Africa. It is not improbable that a crew or crews spent several months in the areas as the voyages took years to complete so that crews had to stop, sow crops and harvest them, replenishing their stores before continuing. Thus Whites must always have played a major role in the development of Africans.
The Arabs had been making slave raids since at least the eighth century in both West and East Africa. At the least tens of thousands of African slaves died on the long trek from the Sahel across the Sahara to the Mediterranean shores. The whole of the Sudan was thought to have been depopulated by 75% by the slavers. It was there that women had plates put in their lips, had their necks stretched using copper rings, to make them ugly so as to discourage slavers.
Further South in Kenya, Tanganyika and the Congo, Arab slavers sent long lines of slaves in neck yokes and chains on the thousand mile walk to the coast opposite the island of Zanzibar which was the trading bazaar. A very large percentage died on the trek and a still larger number amongst the midships passage to India and the Persian Gulf.
Yet the Negroes make no complaint about their savage treatment by the Arabs. Why? Quite simple. The Arabs were White to start but from the eighth century Arabs in Africa bred with the Africans becoming Negroes themselves but retaining the Arab identity. Negroes could understand enslavement by fellow Blacks which was normal; it had always been that way. In many ways the Arabs were on the same intellectual level or only slightly higher than the Africans but better organized than the non-Arab Negroes so there was no real conflict on the racial level.
Even the Ugandan chief Mtese speaking in the second half of the nineteenth century remarked that he noticed that the finer Arab trading goods came from White Europeans. There was an intellectual difference between Europeans and Arab/Negroes. It was a marked difference in intelligence. Nor did the difference pass unnoticed by the Whites. Thus there was a racial divide the Whites refused to regress to and which the Negroes couldn’t cross.
Whites rather consciously or not considered the Negroes a lower form of evolution somewhere between apes and Homo Sapiens. While Liberals of the Sixties decade would never have admitted to this attitude they nevertheless had it. Thus the tried to ‘raise’ the Negro ‘up’ to their level. The Negroes resented the attitude.
The Negroes always hated and resented the Whites for their attitude as they were treated like so many farm animals on the plantations everywhere in the world. Slavery would never have ended except for the English conscience. White people trafficked in Africans for a couple hundred years before the British ended the practice voluntarily at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Of course, not everyone, including the Americans, recognized British law so that the English spent millions and large human resources in the attempt to enforce their edict.
Slaves continued to pour into America until in a disgraceful war White Americans slaughtered each other while expending most of the wealth they had accumulated in the previous two centuries. The beneficiaries of the internecine slaughter were the Negroes. Then the Northerners attempted to enslave the Southerners to their Negro ex-slaves.
The British passed an anti-Slavery act in India in 1843. How long it took the practice to die out, if it has, is not clear.
In Brazil slavery was abolished only in 1888, twelve years from the twentieth century.
Slavery has never been abolished in Arab lands, discretely carried on today while they have slyly re-imported the practice into Europe and America.
The Negro revolution began in Haiti just after the turn of the nineteenth century. Haiti was part of the French colonial Caribbean stretching down from New Orleans on the North American continent through Haiti and the numerous islands leading down to South America.
The Negroes rose up and slaughtered every White male. As a sign of their resentment at White superiority that put White women out of reach of the Negro they allowed the White women to live so long as they gave up their pretensions of superiority and bedded Negroes. Most did. But those that didn’t were raped and tortured to death.
The French have always loved the Negro more than other Europeans. In their colonies there was a large mulatto population created by White men impregnating slaves that also owned slaves while there were numerous free Negro slave owners. Thus it was that the majority of Negro slave owners in the US after the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 were in New Orleans. It may be a coincidence that the French sold Louisiana shortly after the Haitian rebellion or perhaps they read the writing on the wall.
While slavery was relatively benign in the Eastern states where owners did not have the right of life and death over their slaves in New Orleans the Negro slave owners were in the habit of working their slaves to death finding it cheaper to buy more. What good is an old useless slave anyway, hey?
Indeed, breeding farms arose in Kentucky, the site of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin. When the Negroes were of an age they were sold down river to New Orleans which gave rise to that American expression.
Nor were all slaves Black. Free labor is free labor black or white. A large proportion of eighteenth century slaves were White, called indentured servants, who were treated as slaves working in the fields cheek by jowl with the Negroes. Nor were they necessarily released after their term of indenture. Excuses for expenses incurred could always be invented.
In the seventeenth century in Ireland Oliver Cromwell rounded up tens of thousands of Irish and sold them into slavery in the Caribbean where they remained slaves unto death. Children and others were abducted from English streets to be sold into slavery. The hero of Stevenson’s kidnapped was given as a reward to the ship’s captain to sell in America.
To return to the main narrative. The Negro rebellion began in Haiti and spread from there to Negro revolts on the US mainland. The Negro revolts were interrupted by the War Between the Whites. The revolt in a sense succeeded during Reconstruction abetted by the Northerners. The White counter-revolution threw off the Northern/Negro yoke in 1877 thus actually ending slavery in the US while beginning the counter suppression known as Jim Crow. The species were strictly segregated.
The racial war has never ceased although assuming different manifestations for differing circumstances. The Negro has always been aided by Northern Liberals and after 1900 by the Jews who had immigrated in their millions. WWI gave many opportunities to Negroes who were not used as troops. The war was fought by Whites against Whites thus allowing Negroes to replace their manpower in the Northern factories. The great internal migration from South to North had begun. Of course it was attended by ferocious racial warfare, usually referred to as riots. Abetted again by WWII the internal Negro migration proceeded turning into a flood during the fifties and sixties.
The Negro revolt has been characterized as America’s Unfinished Revolution referring to the failure of Reconstruction, or the supremacy of the Negro. In 2014 we are near another civil war to complete the revolution. The key event in this phase of the revolution was the Brown vs. The Board of Education Supreme Court Decision of 1954 that is said to have effectively ended the Jim Crow period.
If we consider the reality of the situation, the Negro view and the Liberal view the Supreme Court decision was a disaster. I can’t even characterize it as well meaning. It completely failed to take into consideration the realities of the situation.
Any historical perspective beginning only with the Northern imposition of Reconstruction on the South a mere eighty-nine years previously and the end of Reconstruction just seventy-seven years previously would surely alert you to the fact that the wires you were holding were live at both ends. To have ignored that was foolish. Couple that with the fact that most of the Africans had arrived after 1820 and had never been acclimated from the jungle to civilization. Mark Sullivan in his wonderful ‘Our Times’ states that in his early years ‘charming’ Africanisms such as wearing feathers was still in existence. That means that the Africans of 1954 had been excluded from the mainstream by Jim Crow for seventy-seven years. They had little concept of how the majority lived or acted or even the nature of government.
Also, by the Liberals own reckoning since they thought the Negroes’ schools and hence education was woefully substandard, they were several years behind comparable White education. They believed the Negro couldn’t get a quality education unless they were admitted to White schools. It is difficult to understand how they thought they could integrate the two class level to class level. At best they would have had to start with five years olds and begin with that generation. As it is, several generations later the educational gap is still in existence.
On a realistic scientific basis it is not possible to close the gap. Like it or not the Negro, at the very least the First Born of Homo Sapiens, is the evolutionary beginning point of Homo Sapiens while as a more probable situation they may be the Last Hominid Predecessor, or Homo Africanus, hence entirely incapable of advancing intellectually.
The Africans themselves resent being treated as the Liberals’ pets or being thought to need to be elevated to White levels which was precisely the Liberal goal then and now. The back lash at the Negro level had to be. Reaction to the Brown decision would surface ten years later in, for our purposes here, NYC when Community Control of the schools surfaced. Negroes wanted all Negro schools with all Negro teachers while setting their own curriculum. This position effectively negated the Brown decision rendering all the socially destructive hub bub of militarily enforcing the decision on Whites completely unnecessary. By the Sixties the racial animosity was unstoppable.

Looking For A Miracle
The Sixties And Its Religion
by
R.E. Prindle
The deliberate pursuit of whatever type of sex is considered deviant by one’s own culture is part of the program of spiritual seekers as far removed from each other in time and space as Tantric Hindu, California Satanists, Daoist sorcerers, Siberian shamans, and paunchy English “witches”, with their scourges and “sky-clad” retreats in the New Forest. To break tabu is a necessary stage in vama marg tantric ceremonies, for instance, in which dietary and sexual tabus are deliberately broken one after another. It is recognized by these technologists of the spirit that deviation from socially accepted mores is a powerful tool for awakening the sleeping powers within us, provided that this deviation takes place within the occult engines they have designed.
Peter Levenda- Sinister Forces, Book III, pp. 211-12
The key to the Sixties is Sigmund Freud. The Sixties was when Freud’s schemes came to fruition. He turned Aryan civilization on its head.
As unpleasant as it may be to recognize Freud was Jewish and his activities were based on his Jewishness and the age old prophecies that govern Jewish activities. Freud’s father came from the Galicia that was a stronghold of Hasidic magical Judaism. Freud himself was a student of the magical Zohar and Kabbalah.
Along with them he acquired the Jewish hatred of the Other, specifically Europeans or Aryans. He identified his psyche with the Semite Hannibal who attacked Rome- Freud’s symbol for Europe. In actuality Hannibal defeated Rome in the field. The Romans retreated within their walls refusing to come out and fight. Unable to sustain his army Hannibal was forced to vacate Italy. Thus, although he had won all the battles he couldn’t win the war. This was a real dilemma Freud had to solve and he did.
Freud began his career as a biologic researcher looking for eel gonads. Seeing no route to universal fame from that research he became interested in psychology. Here was some room to move.
Freud was born in 1856 in the midst of the great unfolding of the Aryan mind. He became associated with a fellow Jewish doctor, Joseph Breuer, who had become involved in researches into hysteria. This led Freud to the center of research in hysteria at the Salpetriere hospital run by Jean-Martin Charcot in Paris when Freud was about thirty years old. He could only afford Paris for a few months but they were eye opening months. He learned the nature of hypnotism and its control element- suggestion. This would be the stratum on which he built psychoanalysis.
Following Charcot Freud’s first book is an analysis of hysteria. The book caused no stir. Turning to associate Breuer and his proto-psychoanalysis Freud studied the nature of dreams. He characterized dreams as the ‘royal road to the unconscious.’ Following Sherlock’s advice Freud carefully studied the literature on dreams which was fairly extensive. His dream book flopped failing to make Freud a household word.
While issuing a steady stream of articles he contributed his greatest work in the form of The Psychopathology of Everyday Life in 1901. In 1905 he contributed the useful Jokes And Their Relation to the Unconscious and another significant work that gave a clear indication of Freud’s direction Three Essays On The Theory Of Sexuality. This small volume finally created the fire storm he had been trying for. At the time the book was considered close to or actual pornography. At any rate it attacked prevailing European or Aryan morality breaking all sexual tabus.
While one may argue that Freud’s was a scholarly approach there is undeniable smut to it. Freud in general reveled in smuttiness. He always leaves you with a slightly sickened feeling. There was controversy then as well as now as to his intent.
D.H. Lawrence who was no stranger to sexual theory and controversy denounced Freud in The Plumed Serpent for wishing to destroy prevailing European morality let alone reforming it. In this opinion he was correct. Both Sexual Theory and his Theory of the Unconscious and mass hypnosis would be his primary weapons.
Freud, contrary to popular opinion was not the originator or the discoverer of the unconscious nor even an early investigator. The unconscious had been a hot topic in European thought ever since Anton Mesmer arrived in Paris in mid-eighteenth century. There were many different ideas concerning the nature of the unconscious but by 1915 Freud had swept them off the board so that by the end of The Great War his perverted version stood alone. The question was how to use this tool he designed to destroy the conscious mind and manipulate the unconscious to attain his and Jewish ends.
In the nineteenth century the only mass media that could be used to manipulate public opinion, the unconscious, was the newspaper, but the newspaper requires consciousness making access to the unconscious difficult. It was only in the twentieth century that the great media capable of manipulating the unconscious directed arrived. Perhaps the most important of these was modern advertising that arose alongside the movies to be followed by radio, talkies and television. Color photo magazines are not to be overlooked either. Photographic images go directly into the unconscious.
Of these media the most overlooked is the power of advertising to quickly change mores, for it was mores that Freud had to alter or modify, the way of looking at and thinking about things.
Freud had a nephew in the US by the name of Edward Bernays. Bernays being Freud’s wife’s maiden name. Eddie Bernays became a publicist with George Creel and the Committee on Public Information during WWI turning to publicity as a vocation after the war. Thus he became a premier advertising consultant. His influence today is greatly overlooked.
The CPI was a tremendous propaganda, indoctrination and conditioning machine. The Wilson administration bludgeoned the American public into its party line. Bernay’s would use those techniques to change the mores of the American people post-war following Freud’s ideas. First he visited his Uncle Sigmund in Vienna where they had long summer walks and quiet talks. What was said isn’t known but can be inferred from Bernay’s subsequent career.
According to Wikipedia quoting his daughter Anne Bernays felt that the public’s democratic judgment was ‘not to be relied upon,’ and he feared that [the American public] could very easily vote for the wrong man or want the wrong thing, so that they had ‘to be guided from above.’
Of course, who is to judge who is the wrong man and on what basis as well as the wrong or right thing. Who is the infallible ‘above’ who is going to force his candidate on the erring people?
In other words, Bernays wanted a dictatorship of virtue. Unable to disturb the political system in one fell swoop it would to be don incrementally. Using techniques imbibed from his uncle’s political agenda Bernays did just that experimenting first through the commercial field.
Old fashioned advertising in print, as radio and TV hadn’t come into existence as yet, consisted of long prose pleas trying to persuade the conscious mind. When color printing came into common use an attractive image coupled with product ID and snappy slogan, or propaganda, would prove to be more effective. Thus to promote Lucky Strike cigarettes there was an incredibly attractive slender woman smoking a Lucky with the slogan ‘Reach for a Lucky instead of a sweet.’ The ad then carried a number of subliminal messages as well as the plea.
When Bernays began his work the Aryan female ideal was the Arthurian conception portrayed most notably in the Pre-Raphaelite paintings. Virginal and desirable as a wife. Freud’s sexual goal was to invert that image to turn Aryan women into sluts. Smoking in women was considered sluttish at the time just as cosmetics were symbolic of the prostitute or painted woman. Good girls didn’t wear lipstick. Bernays through his advertising techniques was to change all this.
Meanwhile back in Vienna, Freud was developing techniques to change the mind. As always an avid student of literature Freud latched onto a small book by the Frenchman Gustav Le Bon titled: The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind. Freud incorporated Le Bon’s studies into his own Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego. By ego he meant group ego not the individual ego.
The analysis of Le Bon meshed with the advertising propagandistic ideas of his nephew. Freud then combined their work with his understanding of sexuality, drugs and his version of the unconscious to undermine Aryan civilization. Remember he was successful in imposing his vision of the unconscious as the only version of the unconscious on the entire psychological and psychiatric discipline, hence society as a whole.
Aiding the effort was the triumph of Adolf Hitler in 1933 in Germany. Hitler’s anti-Jewish stance drove the whole horde of Freud’s disciples out of Europe to the United States. While Freud knew what he knew the other members of his psychoanalytic order didn’t. I don’t mean to be unkind to Freud’s personal lumpenproletariat but they just didn’t grasp what he was talking about. Nevertheless they were accepted at face value becoming not only influential but directors of US culture during the fifties and sixties after which their prestige began to wane.
Most of them settled in the two culture capitols of the US, NYC and LA so that the media took their lead from them. While few, if any, understood Freud his vision of the unconscious as a discrete entity extraneous to the mind and actually the body while controlling one’s actions to the exclusion of the conscious mind was readily accepted and adopted as was his notion of repression in a completely distorted form.
The reality of Freud’s vision of the unconscious was quickly picked up by sci-fi writers who turned out a stream of such novels as Jack Schaefer’s I Am Legend, Jack Finney’s Invasion Of The Body Snatchers and Heinlein’s The Puppet Masters. Not that we consciously understood at the time.
The State of Israel had come into existence in 1948 setting the Middle East ablaze in a series of wars. The 1956 war was a turning point for the Jews. They had been shamed by their non-resistance to the death camps so the ‘56 war allowed them to assert their manhood and become fierce warriors driving US tanks and jet fighters. The war also had intellectual consequences.
Aryan Europe and America had astounded the world by its astonishing scientific discoveries and intellectual development unshared by the rest of the world including the Jews. Emboldened by their military success they set out to reassert their pre-scientific religious dominance they felt they had enjoyed throughout history until the nineteenth century. Indeed a Jewish woman named Barbara Spectre has established the Paideia Foundation in Europe to claim a parity between what she calls Jewish Knowledge and Aryan Knowledge. She specifically says that the future will not be like the nineteenth century when science wrested the crown from the Jews.
This is apparently not the first such crisis of the Jewish mind. A site called Jewniverse published a short piece credited to Daniel M. Bronstein on 7/19/13. I reproduce it here in full:
Quote:
Talmudic lore offers many episodes of rabbinic sages intellectually defeating the luminaries of the Hellenistic world. Far less common are instances of rabbis dismembering their pagan nemeses. So 2nd-century Rabbi Joshua Ben Hananiah really stands apart.
Acting on Roman Emperor Hadrian’s dare to abduct Athens’ top philosophers, Ben Hananiah traveled all the way to the celebrated city-state and coerced a local into revealing the secret location of the philosophical academy.
Upon reaching the heavily defended abode, the esteemed rabbi tricked the academy’s elders into killing the guards.
In a match of wits, Ben Hananiah demonstrated his intellectual superiority while exposing the vapidity of Greek wisdom. After kidnapping 60 of Athen’s best, he brought the scholars before Hadrian, who placed their fate in the sage’s hands.
Using what can only be called magic, Ben Hananiah caused the philosophers’ shoulders to be violently wrenched from their bodies. All of them were killed. Other sages, like Hillel the Elder, have been praised for almost superhuman patience. But Ben Hananiah’s actions present another view of the sages: as people who were extraordinary, but flawed.
Unquote.
Of course Plato’s academy had neither a secret location nor was it heavily guarded but it makes a good story that flatters Jewish sensibilities, apparently of a highly bloodthirsty order. Thank god he didn’t pull Moses, trick and send ten plagues on the poor nitwit, stupid Platonic academicians. How Barbara Spectre is going to replicate Rabbi Hananiah remains to be seen. Let’s hope she doesn’t operate in the same realm of fantasy as the good rabbi.
Just as Moses through Yahweh destroyed Pharaoh, as Rabbi Hananiah demolished the hated Platonic Academy so Freud had calculated the destruction of nineteenth century Aryan science.
Nineteen-sixty was the critical year. Western American society reached its apex in that year, but the demands of the scientific attitude exceeded the ability of the body politic to rise to it. The people slipped back to a pre-scientific mentality. Whether we saw it or not the crash of Western society that resulted in the Manson murders and the Rolling Stones at Altamont began in 1960. Actually the much celebrated Woodstock concert of ‘69 was evidence of the intellectual retreat also, a premonition of Altamont.
By 1960 TV had reached a certain level of maturity. During the fifties when programming was developing most locales had only one or two networks while there was some concern TV wouldn’t make it commercially. By 1960 the three networks and independent system was in place. The sitcom and drama setup was well organized. Hollywood had learned the Freudian formula of using the medium for indoctrination and conditioning.
The fifties had been the great creative period for science fiction both in literature and movies. This whole body of outstanding material was now mined by TV. Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone successfully invaded the minds of millions while the gold standard was probably Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek. Both producers were Jewish.
It is impossible now to recount the propaganda, indoctrination and conditioning of the many, many series and thousands of episodes representing tens of thousands of hours of viewing that made war on established beliefs gradually weaning the multitudes from old mores to new. Mostly the old mores with different content much as new religions build their religious edifices on the old religion’s sites.
The new religion was Saturnic or in another word, Satanic and the hallmark of Satanism is violence. Few people now remember the TV series, Bus Stop, but that show was a direct assault on established beliefs and attitudes toward violence. Incredible gratuitous mindless violence for the time far surpassed today when sadistic pornographic violence with nudity or nakedness perhaps a better word, thrown in.
One of the Twilight Zone episodes was a depiction of Charles Beaumont’s short story The Howling Man, the script also written by him, in which Monks somewhere in Ruritania had captured Satan and had him safely locked in a cell where he howled incessantly all night long. A passing traveler asks for a night’s lodging. Against their own strict rules forbidding it the Monks weakened and allowed him in carefully explaining to him to pay no attention to the howling man in the cell. No good deed shall go unpunished. The traveler naturally listens to the Howling Man’s pleas releasing him. Satan laughing maniacally shouts Fool and rushes out the door.
Beaumont had divined the situation and put it into symbolic story form. In the TV episode the sorry Fool spends his life searching for Satan to put him back in his cell.
It is prescient that Beaumont wrote the story in 1959. By 1966 Ira Levin would develop the theme further when he wrote Rosemary’s Baby about the birth of the son of Satan who replaced Jesus that was made into a very influential movie a year later by that evil presence Roman Polanski. We’ll get to that.
As is well known Sigmund Freud was a cokehead, a drug addict. He well knew the deleterious effect of drugs on the mind and morality. Dreams may be the royal road to the unconscious but drugs are the destroyer of morality. The Unconscious corrupted by drugs is the end of all law and order.
As Freud, the old cokehead, said there are no coincidences so it follows that the drug explosion of the Sixties is the effect of a premeditated cause. After all, Arnold Rothstein, a Jew, did organize the drug distribution network of the US in the 1920s. It can also be no coincidence then that Dr. Feelgood, Max Jacobson, latched onto amphetamines as the great corrupter of society. Jacobson also claims to have conferred with Freud in Vienna. Getting underway in the US in post-war NYC in the forties, by 1960 Max was dispensing amphetamines by the gallon. Imitators sprang up who poured their own gallons of amphetamine into the veins of New Yorkers. This is fact, now it should come as no surprise then that by 1966 NYC was overrun by criminal behavior, that seemed to explode in that year. Or shall we say lack of morality caused by drugs. In essence New Yorkers could no longer tell right from wrong. Satanism ruled. It should be needless to add that Dr. Feelgood was a Jew. There were many factors causing the erosion of morality in the Sixties not all pertaining to religious developments that are our interest here.
The rise of science caused the intellectual disenfranchisement of all religions but more particularly within the Aryan ranks in which science developed, hence Aryan’s became disenchanted with Christianity while Jews and Moslems reinforced their belief systems against science.
Aided and abetted by Einstein’s Theory of Relativity the notion of moral equivalence took hold. This was, one might say, cemented by the movie Mondo Cane of 1962. While moral equivalence should have applied to all religions or moral systems it was turned exclusively against Aryan belief systems. Movies and advertising reflected the animus against Christianity, Aryans and what Negroes called White Supremacy, that is, White rule and knowledge- science or in Negro terms, Acting White.
With all systems supposedly equal or morally equivalent while consciousness, that is objectivity was suppressed in favor of complete subjectivity or the Unconscious was endorsed, it became an easy matter to inject voodoo, witch craft and Satanism into Aryan belief systems. Now, the transition to a satanic sensitivity was fully supported by movies and advertising as well as print media. In 1966 the cover of Time Magazine proclaimed the message ‘God IS Dead’ in black. To the informed that was not a revelation as old gods do die while history is littered with the remains of old gods as epitomized by Shelley’s Ode to Ozymandias. To the religious Time’s announcement was a huge blasphemy but then, the jury was still out concerning on which side the Luce’s were.
As if in celebration of the Luce’s announcement the Jew Ira Levin published his novel Rosemary’s Baby that concerns the birth of the Son of Satan although definitely by maculate means. The novel was a commercial success bringing the little Satan Roman Polanski on the scene who turned the novel into his equally successful movie in the year of revolution, 1968.
The impact of Polanski’s movie was quite extraordinary. Certainly in the aftermath of the movie Satanism had been, one might say, popularized. Of course Levin and Polanski didn’t create modern Satanism but they contributed to its manifestation. The voo doo Saturnian cult had taken root on the East Coast being prominent in NYC. Santeria as well all the Negro voodoo cults in the New World, of course, derived from Yoruba practices in Nigeria. The Yoruba people combined aspects of Christianity with their own Yoruba beliefs themselves derived from Greco-Roman religious practices to create a very hybrid religion based completely in magic which through slavery passed into the New World.
Scientology, created by Ron Hubbard, one of those called UFO religions, in the forties somehow gets mixed up in this. Certain disaffected members established their own church in England in ‘63 called the Process Church of the Final Judgment. This outfit tried to combine Satan, Lucifer and Jesus into one religion. No science involved here. Charles Manson at the end of the decade would be influenced by both Scientology and the Process.
The idea was that Jesus said, Love your enemy. Satan was the enemy of Jesus so Jesus was compelled to love Satan. So the two along with Lucifer combined to share humanity so that virtue and evil were morally equal bringing in relativism, so right and wrong are irrelevant because what one calls right another calls wrong and vice versa. So the law was that ‘it’s all good.’ Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Everything is permitted. A recipe for disaster no doubt. A state of social confusion had been created, almost a state of sustained hysteria.
After 1966 LSD became significant reifying whatever beliefs one had into stone. The fact is that nothing can be gotten out of a mind other than what is in it. Education is everything. To really expand one’s consciousness one has to develop it. With drugs learning stops, especially with LSD. If anything one only reifies one’s existing opinions. One may think one is talking to God but notice that God isn’t saying anything back. You’re only having a dialogue with yourself. You don’t need LSD to do that.
A biker by the name of John Griggs dropped a tab, saw God, changed his ways and began his own religion based on LSD called The Brotherhood of Eternal Love. Begun in the LA coastal town of Laguna Beach the cult, or more aptly perhaps, commercial enterprise expanded up and down California and into Oregon where it was especially prominent in Josephine County of Southern Oregon. It is said the BEL dominated or controlled the marijuana, hash and LSD supply of the West Coast but rather strangely none of the authors concerning themselves with the Process Church or Manson’s Family have heard of it. These authors seem to think that the Process had a monopoly on that drug trade although dealing with biker groups. Perhaps the role of the biker BEL wasn’t apparent to them. All three ‘religious’ groups mentioned above were seriously involved in drugs and hence lead a Freudian unconscious life.
The Process Church founded by Robert and Maryanne DeGrimston in London in 1963 as an offshoot of Scientology soon moved to the sinister sounding site of Xtul on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. There its Satanic, Luciferian and Jesusite form took shape. As one can see, under the influence of Freudian psychology and the rejection of the conscious mind science had been discarded while consciousness has regressed some thousand years more or in some cases less. Magic and superstition have once again taken center stage. Behind the magic cults lay the teaching of one Aleister Crowley of the Golden Dawn and the infamous OTO (Ordo Templi Orientis) with its emphasis on sex magic(k). The K Crowley added to distinguish his magick from stage magic. May not look like much of a distinction but it is significant.
So, in 1967 we have Charles Manson being released from prison just as the Hippie thing with its legions of underage runaway girls took shape in the Haight-Ashbury district of the city of San Francisco. The Haight was a hustler’s paradise and Manson was the man to mine that particular mountain.
More than anything the Hippie phenomenon was a symptom of the rejection of science, or objectivity and the conscious mind in favor of superstition, subjectivity and the unconscious mind of Freud. In connection with Freud it should be remembered that the motto of his 1900 book The Interpretation Of Dreams in his Latin quotation from Dante’s Inferno was Flectere si nequeo Superos, Acheronta movebo which translated means: If I cannot move heaven, I will stir up the underworld.
Freud had failed at the conscious level of science, which he attributed to anti-Semitism, so when he became aware of the unconscious through Breuer and Charcot he had found his underworld. But that hell was part and parcel of his upbringing as Judaism is pure subjectivity hence rampant egoism capable only of creating a hell on Earth- hence Hollywood.
The Unconscious in Freud’s vision was the source of Satanic magic. Hence it can be little wondered that at the very least per the Process Church the world was shared by Jesus and Satan with the Jesusites compelled to love their enemies and presumably turn the other cheek which is to say that Satan Rules. In his own way the great Satanist Aleister Crowley had won the battle sharing the triumph with Freud.
By the way, the Process Trinity mirrors Greek mythology in which Zeus is the god of Heaven, Poseidon the God of the waters and Hades the god of the underworld. Earth was the common property of all three. So the Process reflects old age beliefs.
Because of the horrific nature of his Satanic practices all the attention has been focused on Charles Manson who identified himself as both Jesus and Satan. Half or better of the biker groups derived their identity from Satan- Hell’s Angels, Straight Satans, Satan’s Disciples, etc.
In point of fact Manson was not doing anything his betters , i.e. Roman Polanski et al., weren’t. The whole of Hollywood film was involved in Satanic practices. Nor were Satanic practices new to the LA basin. All of this cult stuff, snuffings and all was common knowledge in the fifties when I was there in the Navy. I have no doubt it dated back through the forties and thirties. Read Raymond Chandler and let your imagination go. Watch the movies closely.
Manson said the reasons for the Tate-La Bianca killings were not what was thought but that he was no snitch. It also means likely that these unknown forces were doing their best to help him once arrested as evidence disappeared, police bungled the process so that Manson and the Family might have beaten the rap except for the persistence of Bugliosi.
Manson appears to have been associated with the Polanski clique involving a large selection of A-list Hollywood. They were involved in drug related Sado-masochistic practices and filmed themselves doing them. Not surprisingly Manson was doing the same with his group. Perhaps under the influence of hallucinogenics the significance of a filmic trail didn’t seem so important. In any event the police confiscated hours of Sado-masochistic films from the Polanski residence. Not unusually these have disappeared although they were offered for sale by the police.
In addition there were huge dope deals on the table that if Polanski wasn’t involved in he was well aware of. His close friend Frykowski, a Pole from Red Poland, was involved in a scheme to distribute the amphetamine MDA and that would have been through the Polanski residence. Shortly before the murders a dealer accused of burning them in a dope deal was brought to the residence where in the course of a large party he was strung up and tortured.
A few days later when Polanski was out of town Manson instructed his devotees to strike. The result was horrific. While it is said that the dope dealer Frykowski was the actual target it was the horrific death of Polanski’s pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, that garnered the headlines.
We have an interesting thing happening here that seems to have gone unnoticed. It was a transition of consciousness that affected every member of society though few actively participated. As an example to illustrate what was happening from 1967 through 1969 I quote from an online publication by an anonymous author concerning the transition from the Weimar Republic to the Nazi Government of Germany. ( hppt://thespawnofthesphinx.com ) chap.17, p. 4:
Quote:
In his book, “In The Garden Of The Beast”, Erik Larson relates first hand accounts of what it was like to be an outsider (in particular the American Ambassador and his daughter) observing Hitler’s rise from Chancellor to tyrant in 1933. It was during that year that Germany became absolutely transformed. “It was like watching a dear friend go insane.” as one outside observer put it. After the great transition and assimilation, German’s collective mind was “coordinated.”
Larson quoted:
“Beneath the surface, however, Germany had undergone a rapid and sweeping revolution that reached deep into the fabric of daily life. It had occurred quietly and largely out of easy view. At the core was a government campaign called Gleichshaltung- meaning ‘Coordination’- to bring citizens, government ministries, universities, and cultural and social institutions in line with National Socialist beliefs and attitudes.
‘Coordination’ occurred with astonishing speed, even in sectors of life not directly targeted by specific laws, as Germans willingly placed themselves under the sway of Nazi rule, a phenomenon that became known as Selbstgleichschaltung, or ‘self-coordination.’ Change came to Germany so quickly and across such a wide front that German citizens who left the country for business or travel returned to find everything around them altered, as if they were characters in a horror movie who come back to find that people who once were their friends, clients, patients, and customers have become different in ways hard to discern. Gerda Laufer, a socialist wrote that she felt ‘deeply shaken that people whom one regarded as friends, who were known for a long time, from one hour to the next transformed themselves.”
Unquote, unquote.
The same thing happened in the US in the fifties as Jack Finney recorded in his Body Snatchers, is happening again here at the end of the sixties and is happening now as Obama/Hitler transforms the Aryan mind. We now have a call for a ‘meaningful dialogue’ on race which means ‘accept our views or be punished.’ There is no dialogue just an order from headquarters.
On a longer wave than Germany one entered the fun house in 1960 and through a bizarre series of dioramas one exited into an entirely different world in 1970. On the shorter wave the rapid transition took place from 1968’s Rosemary’s Baby to the Rolling Stones fiasco at Altamont in December 1969 which had been scheduled for December 7, the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, but was delayed by a day to December 8th.
As Dylan sang, there was something happening here but few if any knew what it was. There was no way for anyone to gain sufficient facts to interpret the whole but those with certain roles observing specific parts knew what to do.
Thus the public had no idea what Manson was doing before or after the Tate-La Bianca killings. The killings themselves obscured everything. Manson based his attitudes on Robert Heinlein’s novel of 1961 Stranger In A Strange Land. Stranger was one of the formative novels of the 60s fitting right in with the psychedelic revolution even though Heinlein had a forties-fifties mentality while adding numerous terms to the vocabulary such as ‘grokking’ and ‘water brother’.
One can imagine Manson reading it in his cell. Then when he was released actually being a stranger in the very strange land of Haight-Ashbury. At the same time he realized it was a parallel universe designed with him in mind. He combined aspects of the two lead characters, the human Valentine Michael Smith raised on Mars and his terrestrial guru Jubal Harshaw. Jubal means father of all, a role Manson assumed. He also named his son Valentine Michael. Smith transformed terrestrial culture as so in his way did Manson.
While on Mars Smith learned the Martian method of mind and body control which Manson adopted and extended to his disciples. After the killings Manson began living out some desert fantasy in Death Valley. It was there he really overstepped the bounds bringing the Park Department down on his head which then led to his charge of the murders, but it’s the desert adventure that interests us here. While the vast majority was unaware of the Death Valley escapade detailed in Ed Sanders, The Family, (make sure you read the first edition) Mansonites saw and learned. In the desert Manson nearly created his own country living by his own laws. Unfortunately his prison mentality kept him from grasping his full opportunity . He was too much the outlaw.
While I didn’t realize it at the time his influence spread up the coast to Eugene, Oregon where I was living at the time. Those were rough and rowdy times. There were many crimes, frequently using shotguns. An especially outlaw area was called Fall Creek. At one time a truck with a light rack pulled up before a camp site turning the light rack on the campers from the road. They stood like deer staring into the lights. The occupants turned rifles on the campers man, woman and children and mowed them down.
As far as I know the police chose not to apprehend them. It would have been easy. A brown pick up with a light rack in a small town? I knew the truck while finding a brown pick up with a light rack should have been easy. Couldn’t have been more than one in the county.
I was lured out to the area once with my wife by a couple posing as friends. All of a sudden at eleven o’clock at night they shooed us out of their house. As one neared the highway a narrow stone bridge crossed Fall Creek, almost a ditch at that point. As we approached a guy came up from under the bridge, stood in the middle of the roadway waving his arms. I wasn’t going to stop and there was room to drive around him. No sooner had I crossed the bridge than another guy came up from under it bearing an automatic with what looked like a silencer on it. Both began calling me names. So, I at least, would have been murdered on the spot.
As a footnote Diane Downs of the famous murder case in the same area said she was stopped by a guy waving his arms in the middle of the road. She was disbelieved subsequently spending her life in prison. I know she was stopped and I believe her story. What the DA’s problem with her was I don’t know but she was sure railroaded.
The revolutionaries flooded into the hills above Fall Creek building concrete bunkers a la Manson that they stocked with food and weapons in preparation for the Day. Strange robberies and shootings happened fairly frequently. There were Manson cultists around for several years. They may still be there, or here, actually, but I no longer have reason to be in contact with them.
Of course, Manson combined Heinlein with the various Satanic cults, the writer of the Spawn Of The Sphinx calls them UFO cults, to create his unique mixture.
Manson has taken the rap for what was going on but as I have indicated Polanski and a large part of Hollywood were as deeply connected to Satanism as he was. Remember actually billions of tablets of prescription amphetamines and barbiturates were being sold annually in addition to the hundreds of millions of hits of illegal LSD, marijuana and God only knows what. Frykowski was negotiating to become a large distributor of the amphetamine MDA.
Drugs were not solely a Hippie phenomenon; drugs were endemic.
Polanski, who can possibly be seen as a successful Manson, continued his nefarious career being arrested in 1977 on charges of child porn or statutory rape. While it is said that the girl’s mother rented her out for the purpose the charge was still statutory rape. Remember Manson said that the Tate-La Bianca victims were into kiddie porn. Polanski believing he would be sentenced to hard time, possibly even being in the same prison as Manson, who knows, took it on the lam. Today he is a fugitive from justice living in Europe where he has powerful protection. Still makes movies though.
The Manson trial was docked in December being very much in the news at the time of Altamont, as was the Zodiac killer, so there was a certain atmosphere surrounding the concert.
The last half of ‘69 was in some ways the apex of Aryan consciousness while at the same time its nadir. Even as powerful rockets were propelling a manned vehicle to land on the moon carrying an astronaut to leave a footprint three inches deep in the lunar dust the unconscious was burying the conscious mind on Earth. A giant step forward for mankind on the moon while a two thousand year regression on Earth.
Almost simultaneously as the lunar module blasted down on the moon a half million of what used to be the hope for America’s future gathered in a muddy field in New York to show a level of culture not seen since the Anabaptists four hundred years ago.
While my generation celebrates Woodstock as the high point of Sixties culture I can see it only as an embarrassment. Not wishing to go into detail I will only mention one thing. Columbia Records released an album call Beautiful People, an ironic insult to the Woodstock Nation as Hippies called themselves in mockery of the Jetset beautiful people. But, if you look at the album cover closely, in the upper lower quadrant you will see some guy standing up haveing sexual intercourse with a sheep. Beastiality as well as NAMBLA maybe endorsed by some but damned if I’ll join in.
I know I’d never be forgiven for saying so but I consider Woodstock to be the penultimate nadir of the Sixties. The nadir was, of course, Altamont, Satan’s triumph.
While the Rolling Stones, under whose auspices the event occurred refused to take responsibility for it, the Stones were as responsible as Levin, Polanski, the Process Church and Manson for the rise of Satanism.
The Manson trial was about to commence. Manson to a large extent incorporated Rock into his philosophy although basing his notions more on the Beatles Double Album than the Stones. Also bear in mind that Heinlein’s Stranger In A Strange Land was his bedrock. One could only hope that he had been captivated by the bible of evildoers, The Catcher In The Rye.
The character of society changed greatly after 1968 almost like Nazi Germany. Sixty-eight was the year of Mao’s Cultural Revolution, the horrors of which in China are still unlearnt in Europe and the US. The Cultural Revolution was global. Sixty-eight was the year of Mao’s Little Red Book and his red and gold portrait pins. Sixty-eight was the year SDS exploded and the formation of the idiot Bomber Billy Ayers’ Weathermen organization as well as the Jewish Defense League, its offshoot The Jewish Defense Organization and the criminal activities of Rabbi Meyer Kahane. Over the period of a couple years there were thousands of bombings in US cities. So many that very few were ever publicized.
While the Tate-La Bianca killings dominated the headlines organizations like the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, the Black Panthers and numerous cults such as The Process Church were stirring up the folk. One was practically dizzy. In action at the same time as Manson the Zodiac killingts of the Bay Area where Altamont would be held were going on. There was just way way too much for people to absorb or begin to understand. As most people were busy trying to live their lives all this crazy activity had remarkably little effect. It was just ‘news.’
Apropos of Altamont the Stones were relatively heavily involved in Sastanic matters, that, if I am right came to a head at Altamont.
Marianne Faithfull and Jagger had been familiar with Satanism before the Redlands bust. Anita Pallenberg, formerly with Brian Jones and then Keith Richards, was deep into Satanism. At one time she had Brian and herself dress in Nazi uniforms. The Nazis were a fascination of the Process Church so rather than being an innocent lark she may have been showing the Church she was in a position to influence the Stones. Indeed, they were in awe of her.
Through the art dealer and man about Hippiedom, Robert Fraser, Marianne and Jagger had met the arch American free lance Satanist Kenneth Anger, with whom they were deeply involved, and who was associated with the arech US Satanist, Anton La Vey. La Vey would play Satan in Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby. That would imply that Polanski was involved in Satanism leading back to the Tate-La Bianca killings.
Post Redlands, Mick was thrown into a frenzy of hatred of society probably having thought he was a notch or two above the law immune to arrest. Indeed he thought the enforcement of the law against him was a violation of his ‘freedom.’ Marianne had been a bit of an innocent, too naïve for her own good. Mick now enraged turned to Satanism posing as Satan himself in his song Sympathy For The Devil of 1968. He allowed the Stones to be featured in Jean Luc Godard’s bizarre revolutionary movie titled One+One subsequently changed to the title of Jagger’s song. Marianne would let herself be exploited in a couple of French films while becoming involved with the Process Church itself while starring in a Satanic film of Anger’s.
It is said now that Satanism was a minor flirtation on their parts but the indications are that the involvement was much deeper and more serious, especially on the part of Marianne that was reflected in her persona and activities in the first two years of her parting with Jagger.
It was perhaps the Process that alerted Marianne to the publication of a Soviet Satanic novel The Master And Margarita published in early 1968. The novel has since attained a high cult status in the US and GB while becoming an industry in the former USSR. A number of films of the novel have been produced in Europe. A much overrated literary effort, in my opinion but a key Satanic document.
Marianne pressed Jagger to read the novel as he was about to begin production of Donald Cammel’s movie Performance, also a Satanic film, shot in the summer of ‘68, that revolutionary year. The movie would not be released until 1971 so has no effect on the period.
Whether or not Jagger or Marianne took their Satanism as more than a hallucinogenic lark the effect of their Satanism on their fan base was intense. Jagger was viewed as the Great Satan or, at least, a wannabe.
So the aura surrounding Altamont was imbued with Satanism. Haight-Ashbury was Satanic. Satanic was.
The Altamont was an almost perfect Satanic location. The Altamont is a pass over the hills surrounding the East side of the San Francisco Bay, the East Bay. To the North of the pass lies Contra Costa County; to the East is Stockton, Sacramento, Modesto, and the Central Valley. To the South are barren hillsides, desert for miles all the way to San Jose and beyond.
The pass is only a thousand feet but very windy while when the pacific fog comes in at night cold and dewy. Today, they’ve covered the area with wind turbines, must be more spooky than ever at night.
When I was in the Navy in the late fifties I used to hitchhike back and forth from San Diego and Oakland every weekend. I would have a friend drop me off at the thousand foot level to begin the return trip. Gloomy place but a quick place to pick up perhaps a very decent ride. The demolition derby grounds were off on the right side going down, maybe at 900 feet. Real desert.
So, through a series of misadventures, given only a couple days to set up this site straight out of hell, cold enough to freeze a witch’s tit the Stones held a free concert. There was no parking, cars strung out along the side of Highway 40 for miles.
Everything was jerry built. The stage was so low and surrounded by so many Hell’s Angels that few could even see the stage in the dark. The sound was terrible. Out into the darkness stretched a couple hundred thousand drugged shivering people. I mean it gets cold and damp there any time of the year and this was December.
So, picture the symbolism. The chief Droog, the Great Satan himself is going to take the stage surrounded by Hell’s Angels and begin shouting out ‘Let me introduce myself…’ OK. Hello, Satan.
Well, now. Jagger and the Stones had been positioned as the bad boys of rock n’ roll by their first manager, Andrew Loog Oldham back in ‘64. Their reputation kept getting worse and now they have improved this rep to being the house band of Hell, Satan’s own rock n’ rollers. Huzzah! ‘I’m a man of wealth and taste…’
There’s a Negro in a green suit who has pushed himself stage side, right behind the not so straight Satans, the Hell’s Angels. I mean, these guys had a worse reputation in the Bay Area than Satan himself. They used to have their club house just down the street from me. We will never know the Negro’s motives but he does have something on his mind and he has a pistol in his pocket. Are we looking for trouble, do you think? He’s apparently been waiting for the moment Jagger opens his mouth to introduce himself. Jagger begins belting it out and at that moment Meredith Hunter, for that is the Negro’s name, whips out his pistol. Waving it in the air he begins a charge through the Hell’s Angels for the stage. There’s a few Angels between himself and Mick who cut short Meredith’s pilgrim’s progress.
No one can say for certain that he didn’t want to put a bullet between the Great Satan’s eyes but I am positive his intent was not to take out six Hell’s Angels and then run like hell. I’m not a gambling man but I would wager on that.
The Angels were cranked out on drugs, pot, LSD, crank or something while getting high on being tapped for the very important function of furnishing security for The Greatest Rock And Roll Band On The Entire Planet and, perhaps.- the Universe.
Wham! Bang! Oh God! Meredith today rests for all eternity on the Altamont or for however long it takes Time to wear down those hills to sea level. If not Meredith, then his shade.
As Jagger made a dash for the helicopter somewhat reminiscent of the last evacuees from Saigon he was heard to mutter, ‘Something weird always happens when we play that song. Could have a clue, Mick. A Clockwork Orange wasn’t released for another couple years but that was the popular impression of you up on the screen, Mick. Bad boy, bad boy, the bad boy of rock n’ roll.
Nor did Jagger abandon the persona after that disastrous experience. He developed his ambi-sexual persona further appearing on stage as a sadistic agitator lashing the stage with his studded belt. The Chief Droog.
Thus by the end of the sixties the suppression of the conscious rational mind had been accomplished in favor of the vision of the unconscious as a satanic separate being whose external control of the individual was irresistible. Sex and drugs were used to place a generation beyond redemption.
In support of sex and drugs, TV and movies pounded out the message that rage and violence were the proper responses to one’s inability to realize one’s fantasies.
While some may pooh pooh the advancing Satanism of the Sixties and on to the present time TV and movies did advance the agenda into the present. As incredible as it would have been to a person of the fifties when the mention of leg for lower limb was still frowned upon, copulation, not simulated even, but actual, is shown commonly on TV and in movies. Murder as an occupation or even pastime has openly been promoted on TV shows such as Dexter that celebrates a serial killer and portrays him sympathetically, even as a hero to emulate.
In the series Breaking Bad a mild mannered high school chemistry teacher gets into manufacturing meth and slowly turn into a Death Dealer not unlike Stevenson’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
The Dexter TV series is a very special case as it seem to have been designed around the philosophy of the Process Church and that of Manson.
Dexter develops around the career of serial killer, a Death Dealer in the Process term. It is nothing less than a series of snuff films recording many, many ritual killings. The ritual theme is highly developed. The ritualistic aspects are quite startling while many of the settings are quite Satanic.
The question of incest is raised as Dexter and his sister are quite close and as the series develops they become romantically in love. Then Dexter involves Deb, the sister, in his ritual killings. This cause a moral conflict in her character against her love for her brother. After an attempt to resolve the conflict by an attempted suicide and killing of Dexter by driving the car they are riding in off the road into a lake. She is rescued by a convenient observer then goes back to save her brother.
Both are under the care of a female psychologist who his fully aware of Dexter’s career because she analyzed Dexter’s father who had trained his son but then committed suicide when Dexter’s avidity for the kill disappointed him. The series is really astonishing. The psychologist is then converted into an accomplice of Dexter.
In a touching scene reminiscent of the Egyptian statue of Isis beholding her son as the father stands behind her throne, one watches as the sister/wife psychologically accepts the role of serial killer, justifying it in her mind, very well acted, now Dexter’s full accomplice. The psychologists nods her assent as Deb wonderingly says: The family that kills together stays together.
Thus the whole philosophy for which Manson has spent his life in prison is legitimized for public emulation. Charles Manson told his Family: You can’t kill kill. And there on your television screen in an incredible reversal of morality in the short space of 60 years from 1960 to the present you have the rejection of God for Satan. If in the Sixties only 2% of the population according to Scientology could be cold blooded killers the entire population of the United States, potentially, has been indoctrinated and conditioned to kill. It only remains for Dexter, his sister and their psychologist to become cannibals.
Thus, through the efforts of Time Magazine, Ira Levin, Roman Polanski, The Process Church and numerous other Satanic cults aided by the Sado-masochists of Hollywood Satanism has slowly displaced Godliness. Satan has murdered Jesus. The unconscious of Freud has displaced the conscious mind of the Aryan past.
The road to chaos has been paved. Can the momentum be stopped?

One of the most interesting back stories of the sixties is that of Dr. Max Jacobson, the first of the amphetamine feel good doctors. Until Spring of this year when both works above appeared getting information on Jacobson and the feel good doctors was a laborious process of going through many autobiographies written by his patients. Now we have a fair rush of information.
I have already reviewed the Dr. Feelgood book and here offer some commentary on Everybody Went To Max and everybody includes the auteur, Martin Kasindorf, and his twin brother at the ages of 11-14 from 1951 to 1954. They were recommended to Max by their two aunts who were being treated by Max. Treated is the operative word here. Martin’s brother describes how when the aunts returned from a visit to Max one aunt feeling particularly energetic would roast nine consecutive pot roasts. If the twins partook of the pot roasts in commensurate measure then indirectly Max cured their anemia.
Martin has fond memories of his old doctor thus being dismayed if not offended by hostile evaluations of Max’s career. Martin’s DVD is his first commercial effort, low to non-existent budget to be sure, but effective as far as it goes.
While Lertzman and Birnes go into some detail, although at 173 pages not nearly enough, Martin’s DVD is a fast skim over Max’s life and career with no interpretation. A little too fast, actually. Martin’s collection of pictures, stills and some film clips, are quite good however the transience of the text which he wrote that handles the details leaves much unexplained. Without a background on the subject one may be left wondering what it’s all about but with some knowledge the DVD hangs together. Still, one wishes Martin had taken the time to set a context, that of Max and his amphetamine cocktails, and then broken his subject into manageable chapters or episodes.
Martin briefly mentions types of amphetamines, which are after all central to the story, while a couple of skeleton chains of molecules are flashed on the screen with no identification and none of which apply to the amphetamines he is mentioning. For a good discussion of what Martin appeared to be trying to illustrate one can refer to Nicolas Rasmussen’s On Speed: The Many Lives Of Amphetamine, 2008, NYU Press. If Martin were to bring the subject up it would have been better to present a five minute précis of Rasmussen’s discussion or something like it.
Max’s New York career would better have been put into a historical perspective to make some sense of it. For instance Max is supposed to have had no interest in money, being nearly a perfect altruist by nature, yet when Anthony Quinn, the actor, began to have medical problems from Max’s treatments and refused to pay him, if one can believe the 18,000 dollar or so debt rung up at 75.00 a shot no less, Max invaded his apartment grabbing a Rodin sculpture in payment. Unfortunately he was no longer fleet of foot as one of the experimental shots he gave himself had left him crippled in one leg. Quinn easily ran him down and snatched his Rodin back.
So Max was so spectacular it would be difficult not to make an entertaining video of his career. Martin could have done better but until he or someone else does Everybody Went To Max will have to do. Perhaps Martin should try to interest the History Channel in either running his DVD or redoing it to whatever standards the History Channel may have. Martin may already be ahead of them.

The outstanding characteristic of 1960s New York is that the city was awash in amphetamines. The whole city was cranked up. During the sixties methamphetamines were legal. Over the counter preparations under various names from major pharmaceuticals had been available from the thirties all through the fifties and sixties as pep pills, diet pills, alertness pills, what have you.
By 1960 the dosages being administered by Feelgood doctors had been changed from minimal to not only maximal but suicidal. Behind the change were the Feelgood doctors. Chief of these was the Jewish German expatriate doctor Max Jacobson. He was abetted by many others, most notably John Bishop aka Dr. Roberts and Robert Freymann aka Dr. Robert of Beatles fame. Between just these three they distributed perhaps millions of mega doses, primarily to notable figures in politics and entertainment.
As near as can be determined the treatment was conceived by Max Jacobson in his native Germany in the early thirties. Max was born in 1900. At seventeen as an untrained assistant he was working in hospitals filled with horribly wounded war casualties. One can only wonder what effect such horrors might have had on a seventeen year old brain.
During the Weimar period Jacobson became a full fledged doctor. At the end of the decade he found a use for methamphetamine combined with the emerging discoveries in vitamins.
Amphetamines had first been synthesized by the German chemist A. Edeleano then refined to methamphetamines by A. Ogata of Japan in 1919. In 1929 Smith, Kline and French began to commercially market amphetamines under the trade name of Benzedrine.
Vitamins began to be discovered and organized in the 1920s continuing through the thirties, so that by the early thirties Dr. Max Jacobson was able to combine amphetamines along with vitamins and such old standbys as monkey glands, types of blood serum and whatever else was handy to formulate his miracle drug and panacea for the world’s ills.
Before he left Germany the Nazis, so we are told, demanded he turn over his miracle formula to them which the authors inform us he did. So then the logical conclusion is that Dr. Theodor Morrell used Jacobson’s amphetamine/vitamin formula to treat Hitler causing his psychotic reaction and inability to deal with Germany’s war problems. Thus in the History Channel’s very interesting segment in which they sneer at Hitler’s use of amphetamines they are actually sneering at the Jewish Doctor Jacobson’s magic formula for eternal youth.
But by 1935 Smith, Kline’s Benzedrine began its phenomenal success so that during the Second World War all the combatants were distributing amphetamines to the troops. The troops of course had no idea what the pills were and if they had it wouldn’t have mattered. In that context though my step-father served at Guadalcanal, one of the horror spots of a horrendous war. In one of the few times he discussed his war experience he did mention that the Army used to distribute these pills (he didn’t know what they were) that were meant to keep you alert and awake but he didn’t like the effect and refused to take them.
The bombers over Europe more or less were compelled to use them while in today’s air force pilots have to sign a disclaimer so that if they refuse amphetamines their flight commander can disqualify them for a mission
Mad Max left Germany going first to Czechoslovakia where he realized his precariousness, then for Paris and finally he fled to the security of the United States with his medical bag and a plan to turn on the world, an early day Timothy Leary.
To place Max in context, while Max acted as an individual he was part of the Jewish collective or in today’s terms, the diverse Jewish Culture. As a Jew he believed himself one of the elect superior to the other. Thus he had the desperate need to excel while at the same time wishing to be considered as one of the ‘movers and shakers’, the great politicians, the movie stars, the authors, the entertainers, the luminaries of the world.
The only thing he had to put him there was his concoction which in his more sober moments, if he had any, must have seemed of dubious value even to himself. Max was nothing but a snake oil salesman, for that reason he had to stay high on his own nostrum lest reality should intrude. To maintain the mirage he concocted an incredible persona to match his dubious nostrum. Yes, Max was hooked on amphetamines. Obviously the vitamin doses as huge as the amphetamine masked the effect while moderating the damage of the amphetamines. Max was an improbable youthful appearing ‘72 after forty years or so of amphetamines, vitamins, monkey gonads, and lack of sleep. God bless America, hey? The first one is free and after that….
Max set up business in New York, the celebrity capitol of the world. Max was Jewish and it appears that his early converts were too. If you led a strenuous life as celebrities tend to do you deplete your energy pretty quickly. It can be exhausting. So, you drop into Max’s office, he plunges the needle in and presto!, the Zippity Doo Dah Moment. The sun is shining and you go dancing out of the office feeling like a million and high as the Fourth of July. You go back, you go back again and then you can’t keep from going back. You tell everyone about the source of your well being. They go see Max and pretty soon all the Beautiful People in New York, the US and the world are beating a path to Max’s door. The 707 that made the Jet Set possible was the magic carpet into the future of post-1960. The whole era just made you high. Things got big, bigger and biggest. Money began to multiply by magic. It was the Sixties, that Magical Time. John Sebastian asked: Do you believe in magic? Sure, why not? It was the Sixties and magic was happening. And then to be flying on amphetamines as you boarded the Magic Carpet to place you in the fabled Jet Set…Wow o Wow! Far out, man.
By the end of the fifties Max had been striding through the stars like a giant Nimrod for so long he was only in a very tenuous touch with reality. Perhaps he is so out of it he doesn’t know what he looks like. Perhaps he didn’t create the persona; perhaps it was the inevitable consequence of never having to come down. John Bishop was the same way.
There is no order to anything he does. There are no precise measurements of his ingredients. He even gives instructions to his untrained assistant to mix up the medicine. I mean, wow, here let me inject you with this stuff, you might like it. The bottles of ingredients are just strewn around the office higgledy piggledy. Max looks like he never washes his hands, nails encrusted with dirt, chemicals or whatever, monkey balls, who knows, human placenta, this guy was scary, a living psychotic reaction. Boy, howdy! Yeah but Eddie Fisher called him Magic Max because of that muddle.
What a reputation that overcame filth, a bloodstained filthy smock, crap all over the floor, but few turned away. Oh well, there was that guy who got an injection and went blind for three agonizing days. When that guy came around he hung up his works and changed his way of living, changed the things he did. Life saving.
But then, the Eureka Moment Max had been waiting for came in 1960, that magical year, when Chuck Spaulding came to see him to see if he could help his Presidential candidate friend John F. Kennedy who was feeling low and having voice problems. He wasn’t sure he would be able to speak in his upcoming debate with Richard Milhous Nixon.
Boy, Max Jacobson meets John F. Kennedy. I saw that movie, but they called it Dracula Meets Wolf Man. John F. Kennedy and the Curse Of The Pharaohs. Thanks to Max he was elected; we got him whether we liked it or not. Watch Max rack ‘em up, first Hitler and now JFK. Good thing they took away his license.
Let’s pause for a moment to say something of our authors. Robert Lertzman published Screen Scene magazine while currently he is a director of an internet television network. William Birnes resume includes being an editor, publisher, literary agent and television producer. They have conducted numerous interviews while compiling an extensive bibliography. The have done their homework.
Their primary concern in Dr. Feelgood is to provide an accurate reason for removing Kennedy from the presidency. They’re not too much concerned with the aftermath of the erasure. While the Kennedy material is germane to my interests, I am more interested in Jacobson’s motivations and consequences of his experiment in mixing amphetamines, newly discovered vitamins and human and other animal glands. The glands identify Jacobson as pure quack.
Max first injected Kennedy before the first Nixon debates in which the consensus was that Kennedy annihilated Nixon. Nixon really lost the election at that time. Nineteen-sixty was worlds away from the period between the war when vitamins were new. Max had had plenty of time to tinker with his formula obviously coming up with many variations. During the forties and fifties Max had been self-medicating and trying any new variations on himself. He had been flying then for fifteen years or a little more and would continue to so do until his death at the relatively advanced age of 79. Thus, while addicted to meth Max had enough self control to manage his usage below destructive levels.
Given that self control one hesitates to call him insane still he obviously was not of this world although he had learned to function very well in it. Eddie Fisher considered him his god while it is likely that Max confused the difference between himself and god. While patients describe him as kindly that must have been so only when they treated him with the proper deference or, even, reverence. His special séances after hours when celebrities gathered around in adulation waiting for that special mixture was confused by Max as love rather than addiction. As will be seen, when the proper ‘respect’ was not shown him he could lash out viciously to the point of murder.
It seems that one would have to be very careful in one’s speech around Max lest one inadvertently dropped a remark he found offensive. At that point Max reached into his bag of recipes and gave one a stunning rebuke.
Times had changed drastically since the thirties. The Nazis were gone in fact but not gone from the minds of Max and his fellow Jews. Since the thirties the holocaust had been executed, Israel created as a nation and a country, the war of independence fought and won as well as the ‘56 war. In terror of another holocaust the Jews had initiated a campaign against the anti-Semitism they knew existed in the hearts of Americans. Movies such as Gentlemen’s Agreement as soon as 1947 began the pursuit of any anti-Semites that might exist although there had never persecution of the Jews in America.
After the ‘67 war, exhilarated by their six day victory they decorated themselves with yellow stars flaunting them openly although unlike in Germany the yellow was gold. Aggressive groups antagonistic to anyone, led by Kahane and going by names like the Jewish Defense League and the Jewish Defense Organization were terror groups not unlike the Brown Shirts of the Nazis.
Max acting as a Jewish national cultivated both the ‘Nazis’ of ‘Amerikkka’ and the Communists. Thus he was manipulating both the US and USSR for Jewish purposes. As he was being closely watched by the FBI and the CIA and most likely the KGB those organizations must have known or suspected Max’s triplicity. His office was sacked more than once. It is probable both US and USSR agencies were involved.
So, in 1960 Max turned JFK on.
If Max’s formula was appropriated by the Nazis then it is probable that Hitler’s Dr. Morrell either used Max’s formula or based his own variation on it. Perhaps monkey balls were difficult to come by in wartime Germany. As vitamins were that new back then it is quite possible that Max was the first to come up with his amphetamine cocktail.
If Morrell did appropriate Max’s formula then it is probable that both he and Max genuinely believed it was the fountain of youth and well being unaware of the destructive results of long term use. I have read that the Germans did discover the harmful affects and discontinued use of amphetamines among the troops while Japan and the Allies continued to use them.
Max then, in effect, destroyed Hitler and the German war machine. Now he turned his drug on the destruction of Kennedy in which he succeeded as only he knew how. The insignificant Jacobson’s effect on history was then out of all proportion to his personal insignificance.
The first injection was such a lift for Kennedy who was actually a walking dead man that he was hooked from the first shot. Kennedy was a very sick man. He had severe osteoporosis so that his lower back pain alone would have influenced his ability to think clearly and work. In addition he had Addison’s disease in which his body failed to synthesize corticosteroids. He had to inject serum every day of his life to artificially replace those steroids or he would have died. He should never have run for the presidency. Max’s shots allowed Kennedy to function in an apparently normal way; twist the night away there in Camelot.
Max took full advantage of the situation frequently flying to DC from New York to inject JFK. He even gave him a supply of vials to self medicate. Jack then became very dependent on his Dr. Feelgood to the point that he couldn’t function without him.
Remember that Max was playing both sides against the middle while probably favoring the Communists with whom the Jews were closely associated, the majority of any national CP being Jewish. As a caretaker of Kennedy Max was in a position to direct the course of US-Soviet politics. This occurred during the 1961 Khruschev-Kennedy summit meeting of June 4th , 1961.
Between Kennedy’s first injection for the September ‘60 Nixon debates and summit meeting of June 1961, a bare nine months, Kennedy had become addicted to amphetamines or psychologically dependent on Jacobson to relieve him not only of pain but anxiety. Kennedy had reason for anxiety in his face to face confrontation with the Soviet Prime Minister. Joe Kennedy, Jack’s father, had been a dominating father, so that Khruschev, old enough to be Jack’s father may have represented a threat to Jack’s ability to resist his influence.
Jack then insisted that Max be with him in Vienna. Now, as one believes as I do that Max was more sympathetic to the Communists than what he would have considered ‘Fascist Amerikkka’ it is not inconceivable that some sort of arrangement had been made with Khruschev to make Kennedy more manageable and suggestive by drugging.
Perhaps coincidence but Max gave JFK at least three shots just before he met Khruschev. As Max had many different formulae, as will be seen in the sequel, it is possible that he gave Kennedy, in addition to an overdose, a shot that left him open to hypnotic suggestion, to make him a Manchurian Candidate.
In any event Khruschev virtually turned Kennedy upside down and bounced him on his head. Even JFK was totally embarrassed by his performance.
Kennedy’s persistent reliance on Jacobson angered his Attorney General brother Bobby. He had several vials analyzed discovering the composition of the formula Jack was using. Subsequently then when Max and his associate Mike Semak appeared at the White House Bobby intercepted them and told them in no uncertain terms to clear out and not bother his brother again.
Max remembered Bobby’s wrath as his saying: You kikes get out of here; go back to New York where you belong. I doubt it. That may have been what they thought they heard projecting their own prejudices on Bobby but I doubt that that is what Bobby said. Remember Max had been on amphetamines for decades and Semak was probably also high. They were dealing with subjective reality to say the least.
Now comes the reason that the authors think Jack was offed. In the first place Jack is believed to have confided classified info to Marilyn Monroe as small talk that she used to threaten Jack and Bobby to get her way. The authors believe that may have been the reason she was killed.
Jack became so desperate for Max’s shots that he went crawling back to him in New York to beg forgiveness and another shot. Correct, the President of the United States humiliated himself and us by begging a quack doctor for his worthless nostrums. Max then took his vengeance on Jack for Bobby’s humiliation of himself.
He gave Jack a formulation that caused the President of the United States to strip off his clothes and run naked through the halls of the Carlyle Hotel. It took another doctor to medicate Kennedy to return to the planet. In the meantime, Max, one imagines, cackling madly had fled the scene.
Max and other Feelgood doctors such as John Bishop, aka Dr. Roberts, tried out different formulae on their clients. The performer Cherry Vanilla who thought Bishop experimented on his clients once gave her a shot that caused her to strip and actually run down the street. As that only happened once to her as well as once to Kennedy the shot must have been of that special formula.
The authors believe that the Carlyle incident threw the fear of god into high government officials who trembled at the thought of what Kennedy might do during a psychotic reaction especially with the nuclear arsenal at his command.
As Kennedy also sent his secret service men out to round up street prostitutes for his pleasure there was the fear that he could be programmed to divulge information to planted Soviet prostitutes. Their next step was obvious. The welfare of the country demanded it. Unfortunately LBJ was vice-president and we got what we got.
But JFK was merely the tip of the iceberg. Max had hundreds if not thousands of clients. The authors mention many of them and publish a list of some of them at the back of the book. Let’s assemble a group of his clients closely connected to Kennedy. This is interesting:
Jack Kennedy
Jacqueline Kennedy
Judith Exner
Frank Sinatra
Sam Giancana
Marilyn Monroe
Mark Shaw
Peter Lawford
Robert Goulet
Jack and Jackie were both users. Jackie’s family believed that the lymphoma she contracted came as the result of Max’s injections and was responsible for her death. Jack invited disaster and received it.
Sinatra, Kennedy and Giancana were involved in discussions or negotiations of some kind. Sam Giancana was the front man of the Chicago Outfit. The three men shared the two women Judith Exner and Marilyn Monroe. Exner was a courier between Sinatra and Giancana and Kennedy. She didn’t realize what she was in the middle of until it was too late, or knew it but couldn’t figure an out until later. She chose the way of being overweight and therefore undesirable to find an exit.
Monroe was caught in a savage crossfire as she chased John Kennedy but was used by Giancana and Sinatra to punish Kennedy. The authors believe that because she threatened to reveal classified information imparted by Kennedy that CIA/FBI did away with her.
That they all used Max is fairly remarkable. That leaves it open as to whether Max received and transmitted information or whether he extracted information for his own purposes.
Mark Shaw who was CIA passed as a photographer, not surprisingly receiving commissions from insider publications to build his reputation and cover, was also a pilot who flew Max back and forth, DC and New York. It seems likely he was murdered by Max who gave him a hot shot. Lawford and Bishop and Davis had subsidiary roles while Goulet probably functioned as a handyman.
All and all Max’s role on the Kennedy administration was astonishing. He had certainly injected himself into the center of things. Not too bad for a kosher butcher’s son.
Perhaps even more astonishing was the effect he had on New York City. As he probably originated the amphetamine/vitamin cocktail while introducing it to New York in the forties it follows that the Feelgood doctors, including Hitler’s Doctor Morrell in that group perhaps spuriously, were following his example.
One isn’t surprised then to find Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick among his clients. Andy, so he said, visited Jacobson once, didn’t like it and never went back. Of course Andy was creating his own amphetamine scene preferring Obetrol himself, as well as was Bob Dylan another heavy amphetamine user. Already in competition with Dylan for top spot in Bohemia Andy probably didn’t want to enhance Max as a competitor for No. 1 while possibly becoming dependent on him.
Edie not only used Max but also John Bishop and also Freymann. Bishop also used his own medicine. The amphetamines must have loosened one’s attention to detail because Bishop ran the same sloppy type of operation as Max did.
In Bishop’s case Cherry Vanilla, she who ran naked down the street, believed that Bishop used his clients as guinea pigs trying out different formulae. Her opinion was that you never knew what was in the works.
One is surprised that Max wasn’t stopped by the CIA, by stopped I mean cold. If they would kill Kennedy I don’t see why they wouldn’t off Max. Perhaps he had powerful protectors.
He was allowed to operate unimpeded until 1972 when the medical board brought charges against him. It took three years to lift his license but by 1975 Max lost the right to practice legally although he still operated out of another doctor’s back room.
However without his license Max was no longer an MD thus being unable to maintain his amphetamine fueled fantasy notion of himself. Max faded quickly dying in 1979, although one year short of eighty he couldn’t have gone on much longer.
What is truly remarkable is that after fifty years of amphetamine use his body was intact and his mind functioning. If he had any psychotic episodes they went unreported. Either Max did know a magic formula that allowed him to operate outside reality or he led one damned charmed life.
The amazing thing is that the biographers and historians give Max such scant notice except Lertzman and Birnes in this important and even entertaining book. Great reading and well worth the price of admission. Get yours today.

Searching For Tara Browne:
The Testimony Of Laurie O’ Leary
by
R.E. Prindle
Tara Browne
O’ Leary, Laurie: Ronnie Kray: A Man Among Men, 2001, Headline Book Publishing
A key event in British rock and roll history was the death of Tara Browne on 12/18/66 in a car crash. The death was memorialized by the Beatles in their song A Day In The Life on the Sgt. Pepper’s album. This coincided with the Paul Is Dead rumor. It has been suggested, not very plausibly, that Paul McCartney died in the Browne crash and that after a little face lifting surgery Browne took his place in the band and subsequent career.
It has been said that on the night of the crash Paul challenged Tara to a race through the London streets that resulted in the crash. Rather thin story. Paul is supposed to have fled the scene of the accident. There is no doubt that there was an accident, and a spectacular one, and that presumably Browne died. I don’t think there can be much doubt that Tara Browne was the one who died but the accident does raise questions.
Browne along with the Beatles’ George Harrison was involved with the night club Sibylla’s that opened its doors on 6/26/66, six months previous to Tara’s demise. The club that attracted the cream of the rock world was extremely successful. The club was managed by Laurie O’ Leary. O’ Leary was already connected to the notorious Kray Twins having formerly managed aspects of the Krays’ West End gambling joint Esmeralda’s Barn. After Sibylla’s was closed O’Leary would move on to the very important Speakeasy Club.
In his 2001 biography of Ronnie Kray, Laurie gives the most extended account of
Sibylla’s that I have come across. While it may not solve any problems concerning Browne’s death, in its account the book does put Sibylla’s into perspective.
Laurie O’ Leary grew up in the East End not too far from the Krays. He was friends with them from early childhood maintaining a close relationship with them all through the years until Ronnie Kray’s death in the Broadmoor Mental Hospital (insane asylum, loony bin) in 1995.
While a ‘business’ associate he claims never to have been a member of the Krays’ criminal outfit, The Firm. O’ Leary was careful never to have become involved in overt criminal activities, although there was criminal involvement, instead becoming involved in the music business from the promotion and management side. It is not impossible that he participated in the negotiations of the Krays with Brian Epstein to take over the Beatles. As one writing of sensitive matters it isn’t so much what O’ Leary says as what he doesn’t tell us; so while we learn a great deal O’ Leary carefully conceals leads to the whole story.
The Krays, for whose who are unfamiliar with them, were twin brothers, Ronnie and Reggie, who were acknowledged as the kingpins of the British underworld during the 1960s. Their older brother, Charlie Kray, while not part of their Firm, participated in schemes and benefited from the relationship. Charlie Kray too, not surprisingly, got into show business management.
Originally from the East End the Krays made an entrance into the West End of London when by dubious means they acquired a Kensington gambling joint called Esmeralda’s Barn. This was a building of three floors of which the top floor was occupied by the gambling joint while the first floor was made into a private club and the basement was what in the US would be called a bar. O’ Leary managed the lower two floors. The Kray’s were reluctant to pay their taxes thus an un-understanding Inland Revenue closed their doors. Enter Sibylla’s.
O’ Leary says of this stage of his career: p.168
By this time I was managing the society club Sibylla’s for an elite group of directors that included Beatle George Harrison, Sir William Piggot-Brown, the top amateur jockey, and the evergreen disc jockey Alan (Fluff) Freeman.
The club attracted a high profile clientele, which was cleverly orchestrated by one of its directors Terry Howard who worked in advertising.
O’ Leary does not mention two other participants in the directorship Tara Browne and Kevin McDonald. These two are the only ones who figure in the commentary from the rock and roll side. Through O’ Leary, connected to both the Firm and the Charlie Kray Agency he contracted the talent for the club. We are beginning to see a closer connection between the rock scene and the Kray led underworld.
Now, you couldn’t run a club without ‘protection’ and the protection would have to have been provided by the Krays’ Firm as well as the talent by the Charlie Kray Agency and Kray associate O’ Leary.
Ronnie and Reggie Kray
Further, the location was on a Firm controlled street, flanked by gang controlled clubs. A question then would be, who selected the site and why? O’ Leary describes the location: pp 108-109
Sibylla’s was a small restaurant discotheque situated in Mayfair’s Vine Street, a narrow, winding cobbled road suitable only for the width of one vehicle….
Entering from Regent Street, Vine Street already had three established night clubs. Al Burnet’s Stork Rooms was the most famous. Directly next door was the less famous but well-run Hirondelle. Both were used by the Twins. At the same time, a few doors along, was Bill Bentley’s Oyster Bar, which was frequented by many a celebrity….
On the other side from Bentley’s was a rather infamous clip joint called Pipistrello’s…
Just why the directors of Sibylla’s had chosen this site for their exclusive club was actually beyond belief. The other clubs were frequently used by London’s gangsters. This kind of passing trade would have been difficult to eliminate.
So, the high flying music trade was placed cheek by jowl with the London underworld. The whole directorship must have been high on drugs while feeling immune to any threat from the Kray gang. As I stated the club would have had to have been paying protection. Tara Browne already worked for and or was associated with a car dealership and the dealerships were all ‘protected’ by the Kray gang.
A month or so previous to Browne’s accident his friend and business associate Kevin McDonald fell to his death from a high building. Kevin was either carelessly walking the ledge, high enough to think he could fly, purposely jumped or was thrown to his death by unknown parties.
Concerning McDonald’s death O’ Leary says: p. 171
Sadly after about three weeks, news drifted through that Kevin McDonald had died. I was told to keep quiet about the tragedy, and that the news would finish off Sibylla’s. Nobody ever explained to me just what had happened to Kevin, of whom I had grown very fond. It appeared that he had leapt off a roof in, I think, Chelsea or Fulham while under the influence of something or other.
O’ Leary doesn’t indicate who told him to keep quiet or who failed to tell him what happened but I think the influence is clear that it was the Krays. Laurie doesn’t even mention Tara Browne’s death.
Perhaps, or probably, McDonald objected to some demands from the Krays while feeling beyond any threats because of the popularity of the Beatles through Harrison so that he ignored his danger. I suspect the situation was the same with Tara Browne who probably had a cognitive disconnect because of his social status.
Another jump would have been highly suspicious so an auto accident was determined. Possibly it was meant to only scare Tara but resulted in his death. If McCartney was used to lure Browne into a race through the streets then it is possible to create a scenario resulting in the Paul Is Dead rumor but, at this point it would be pure speculation.
At any rate O’ Leary’s account makes clear the Krays’, both twins and Charlie, underworld connection to Sibylla’s, McDonald and Browne. It opens an avenue to further speculation.

A Review: A Prince Among Stones by Rupert Loewenstein

A Review: A Prince Among Stones by Rupert Loewenstein
by
Review by R.E. Prindle
Loewenstein, Prince Rupert: A Prince Among Stones: That Business With The Rolling Stones And Other Adventures, 2013, Bloomsbury
Some will rob you with a six gun,
Others use a fountain pen.
-Pretty Boy Floyd, The Outlaw
Now comes the very welcome autobiography of the Rolling Stones eminence gris, financial expert, Rupert Loewenstein, a moments surcease from the excesses of Spanish Tony Sanchez, Marianne Faithfull and Keith. A respite from biographers Christopher Anderson, Philip Norman, A.E. Hotchner and the other sexually obsessed writers. A pause in the hothouse atmosphere of Mick’s groovy sexual liaisons, temporary and otherwise. Rupert keeps his dick in his pants.
When in 1968 the Stones realized that the inexperience of their youthful years was cracking down to destroy their dreams, their hopes had been concealed and buried in truckloads of contracts and documents they couldn’t read and would never understand. Enter Rupert the investment banker from The Square Mile, well mannered and ‘with it’ in ways Rockers could ever understand much less emulate. But Mick tried.
Entangled by the youthful inexperience of their first manager seconded by his partner Eric Easton and outright robbed by fountain pen wielding Allen B. Klein, Mick Jagger turned to Rupert Loewenstein as a thirsting man in the Sahara desert. As despised rock and rollers Jagger was turned down by the lawyers and accountants he pleaded with to salvage the Stones situation.
Christopher Gibbs, friend of Bob Fraser, approached Rupert as an old Etonian and asked his help. Rupert considered and accepted.
After reading internet reviews of Rupert’s book the general consensus seems to be a general rejection. The fact that Rupert took the first sixty pages to explain his origins and give some background offended the majority of reviewers who expected him to begin with glowing accounts of Mick and Keith. As Rupert’s technique was to place himself in his environment, so markedly different from the rest of us, most reviewers interpreted his method as mere name dropping.
I enjoyed the pages and thought Rupert’s technique quite skillful. As his explication narrowed down to his first encounter with Mick as he stepped over his prone drugged out form at a party I became aware of who Rupert was and how he arrived at the crossroads of his life.
At that point he was an owner of the small merchant banking firm of Leopold Joseph & Sons, both Leopold and his sons having departed the firm. Here he had a comfortable, respectable life with, as future developments would show, an opportunity for substantial wealth. An enviable situation actually.
But Rupert, apparently, craved excitement, so for reasons that escape me he took on the task of rescuing the Stones. Did I say crazy? Closer to what I meant but had too much discretion to say. At the time Rupert accepted the mission the Stones were penniless all their money controlled by Klein; they had no means to pay Rupert anything including his expenses. As incredible as it may seem Rupert worked for not only nothing but at his own expense including many trips to New York and back for three long years until he could squeeze some money out of Allen Klein. I mean, what luck for the Stones, my jaw just dropped.
The Stones had thousands and thousands of documents and papers Rupert had to familiarize himself with and this is all boring, very intricate stuff. It took Rupert a couple years alone of study before he felt competent to confront the thug Klein; and then, eighteen years of legal squabbles ensued as Klein fought to hold his ill gotten gains.
In the meantime, as Rupert learned the complexities of the music business and touring he had to find ways to make the ongoing projects profitable. He succeeded in making the perennial money loser, touring, into a cash cow.
Rupert is always understated but his efforts for the Stones in a very corrupt business were astonishing. From being penniless Jagger now has several hundreds of millions of dollars.
While discussing these financial affairs Rupert is more than discreet. One has an idea of what he did for the Stones but nothing in the way of useful details. This was Rupert’s life that so far as I’m concerned he is certainly within his rights to discuss, even revealing, some more pertinent details in his dealings with Klein.
Mick, who can explain Mick, had the effrontery to chide Rupert for, in his eyes, revealing the Stones’ finances. Revealing the Stones’ finances! Who is Mick kidding? The Stones are an untraded public company. They have imposed themselves on their public, us, and what they do is our business. Our dollars have made them very wealthy men. We’re entitled to financial reports. Does Mick have any idea of what havoc he has caused to society and we members of the public, this member, by his reprehensible shenanigans?
Personally I think it astonishing that Rupert would have associated himself with a guy who would get up on forty foot inflatable dick in front of sixty thousand people a time and shout ‘Yahoo!’ What kind of guy would do that?
In many ways that was only the beginning of Stones’ offensiveness in the seventies. One has to understand the homosexual situation of the sixties and seventies in which Mick played a leading role. Hidden at the bottom of developments was the 1962 novel by Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange. The story involves a near societal mutation of thug violence. The film rights were immediately snapped up by a combine of David Bailey, Andrew Oldham and Andy Warhol.
The original plan was to star Mick as the protagonist Alex. The movie did not come together until 1971 but then under different owners although Warhol did make an earlier version. The book’s type of violence was part and parcel of Warhol’s Factory whose members apparently took the book’s protagonists, the Droods, as their model. That combined with their homosexuality.
Mick was close to both David Bailey, the fashion photographer who describes Mick and his mate, and Warhol. As the book was a sort of revolutionary text the movie was even more so. For those prone to violence the movie serves as a primer. Yobbos in action.
Andy Warhol was also working toward the homosexual revolution that succeeded in 1969 in the Christopher Street rebellion at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. Between the book and the Stonewall the lid was off unconscious violence and homosexuality. Alex of Clockwork Orange was portrayed as an androgynous character not unlike Mick.
Thus the 1970s songs and tours took on a violent homosexual character leaning heavily toward psychotic sado-masochism. Always pushing the envelope Mick over did it with his 1976 release Black And Blue. Black And Blue was a very sick record. Of course it was only part of a very sick period fueled by the homosexual revolution. Appearing in 1976, it was after a series of albums by the sado-masochistic Negro band The Ohio Players. The OP had released a series of objectionable record covers that caused no adverse reaction as they were Negroes. Their LPs Pleasure, Pain and Angel had covers more excessive than Black And Blue. Women were dominatrices, hung from chains, the Pleasure cover shows a woman stabbing a man in the spine during intercourse. This all passed without comment but Mick apparently didn’t realize that Negroes have a ticket to ride but White Boys don’t.
Unlike The Ohio Players the Stones didn’t have the rocks to put their picture of female torture and overt sado-masochism on the outside of the cover concealing it instead within the gate fold. Perhaps Mick was realizing his Clockwork Orange fantasy identity.
To add insult to injury the Stones compelled their label to erect a gigantic Billboard of the centerfold across from the Hyatt House on Sunset Boulevard in LA. The outrage was instantaneous. The outrage was so intense that Mick and the Stones were compelled to back down. The billboard was taken down while the photo was removed from the inner cover replaced by a photo of the band.
One can only imagine the effect the incident had on Rupert and his fellow merchant bankers back in London. The repercussions at all levels were horrendous.
In fact Mick owes me for that one. At that time I was in the record business in Portland, Oregon, running a large six thousand square foot store. I had a huge presence on TV and radio through advertisements thus making me an ideal target for protests. Oddly devotees of porn like Lesbians decided to target my store. A committee in combat boots stormed into my store handing me an ultimatum to not only remove Black And Blue from my racks but a long list of record covers they thought demeaned women. Interestingly The Ohio Players several covers or any records by Negro groups for that matter were not on the list. No White person was going to criticize any Negro for anything. They had immunity. The Stones however where White, objectionable and fair game. As was I.
The Lesbos put their heads together to come up with a media event that they could exploit for maximum publicity. Andy always said that any publicity was good publicity but I beg to disagree with him. They conceived the notion that if they came into my store and slashed the covers of their two hundred objections that would make the paper, TV and radio. They were complicit with my employees. As the store was open till ten they chose a late hour to do their slashing. Well done, but beyond my notice until one of the Lesbos in my employ pointed the albums out to me several days later.
Of course, as I had no idea who did it, similar incidents were always happening, I pulled the damaged covers to be sent back to the manufacturers hoping that it wouldn’t happen again. There was no reason for me to complain to the police because as a record dealer I was outside the protection of the law, the police would have laughed at me. As the evil deed had received no response the Lesbos published their manifesto in their paper. Naturally enough I didn’t read lesbian publications so no response from me.
The gay crowd had their agents in the police department and the Daily Oregonian, the local rag. Unfortunately for the Lesbos as I didn’t advertise in the Oregonian it was forbidden to either mention myself or my store hence that venue was closed. Oddly enough the Lesbos used to police to try to stir me.
Now, I was in the record business. It was universally believed that every record store was dealing drugs. There were TV shows depicting it. Therefore it was believed that I was one of the biggest drug masterminds in the world. I was actually followed by police agents in London on vacation. As it happened I was there when they made a major marijuana bust so I was given attention as it was apparently thought I was there to supervise the operation. It was an interesting time. I hope I don’t have to tell you what a fantastically absurd suspicion this was. I mean, you know, it was believed that all you had to do was ask for a certain record and the clerk would slap a lid of grass on the counter for you. I mean, with a counter full of weed nothing would have been easier than a bust. But logic….
The cops had been irritants for some time so when I got a phone call saying that they wanted to help me, I say, What kind of setup is this? The sergeant or whatever begins insultingly saying that ordinarily the police didn’t care what my kind of people did to each other but this slashing of record covers was one toke over the line. Wow. It was exceptionable wasn’t it? What other things hadn’t they investigated that’s what I wanted to know but got no answer.
Quite honestly I’d dismissed the incident, didn’t remember it and thanks, but no thanks. The Lesbos were back to square one, no media event. Time passed as they revolved the situation in their drug addled minds.
Now, not only was the newspaper riddled with gays, as was my store by the way, but so was the no. 1 TV station in town on which I was a very heavy advertiser, both its radio and TV outlets. Homos and Lesbos ran the place. Time has now flown as Time will and we’re into 1977. More objectionable covers have appeared especially Ronnie Montrose’s first with the abstract painting that resembled perhaps a woman’s crotch but given the homosexual dominance of the industry by 1978 it could have been a man’s rear; the record was called Jump On It if I remember correctly. All the sexual double entendres used for decades, remember the tune Baby, Let Me Bang Your Box? Piano was meant, box being musical slang for piano as well as…(blush) you know. The Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane, for instance who was only three years old. You just have a dirty mind, that’s all.
I was known for touting the artistic merits of the covers so getting together with their sisters at K… it was determined to do a short news feature in which I was to be induced to speak out and then they would go for the Montrose cover and get me for porno. I had no objection to their filming in my store but not having been born yesterday I wasn’t going to be drawn into the trap. I refused to speak on camera so that blew the second attempt for a media event. On to take three.
What else? The Lesbos would stage a demonstration outside the store, placards and all. However they once again made some gross miscalculations. They did get the top DJ in town also at K… and also a homosexual to announce that the demonstration would take place at noon at my store. I heard it on the radio on my way to work and was grossly offended. But, you know, too bad wasn’t it?
It was true that because of my massive radio and TV presence through advertising, and I mean massive, I was the ideal target. However many if not most people considered the demonstration as a publicity stunt which I failed to grasp at the time so didn’t turn it to my advantage and ignored it. As it would have been free advertising none of the radio and TV stations would cover the demonstration and the Oregonian certainly ignored it.
Frustrated that no media attended their media event the Lesbos decided to invade my store. A screaming horde of combat booted demons rushed in climbing on record racks, waving their signs, and with them came all the thieves and shop lifters within range of the excitement. Oddly enough many shoppers considering the ruckus a stunt went calmly about their shopping.
It took the helpful police an hour to get there and two hours to restore order. Obviously no arrests were made by the ‘helpful’ police. As Dylan sang: The cops don’t need you and, man, they expect the same. I have no idea how much money the Lesbos cost me, but they owe along with Mick. Once they realized there would be no media event their interest subsided. By that time half of 1977 was shot.
The next time Mick says that songs don’t incite a revolution smile knowingly.
Whatever was happening to me passed unnoticed as I was out on the edge of nowhere. Except for this account of the story the incident has been unrecorded. I hope the Lesbos feel rewarded. But for Rupert his world was changed dramatically on February 27th of that same year, 1977. Keith was busted for intent to distribute heroin in Toronto. The bust was as close to absolute disaster as the Stones ever came. It must also have sent a shiver down Rupert’s spine as he realized how fragile a business the Stones were.
Rupert passes over this stuff casually with a little light hearted banter but the seriousness of this ‘media event’ causes him to issue a nearly audible sigh of resignation. Rupert had spent months lining up bids from every major label for when the recording contract with Atlantic expired.
Mick gave Rupert a call to tell him the disastrous news. You can almost feel the heartbreak as Rupert resigns himself to call each and every label to ask if the bust affected their offers. It did. All signed off but…Atlantic. Ertegun stayed in but Rupert’s bargaining power went into the vein, so to speak. The Stones were only worth what Ertegun would offer. Millions down the tube. Rupert doesn’t tell us what percentage he was working on but we can assume that Keith’s bust cost him plenty.
You don’t read the story that way in Keith’s auto; he may not even still have figured it out.
That was a very serious consequence for Rupert to which I am sure Keith has given no thought ever to the possible collateral damages caused by his actions. In his drugged out haze Keith was not even aware that Rupert could no longer justify his involvement with a bunch of yobbos like the Stones. In the first place anyone associated with Rock was socially unacceptable. I as a record store owner was persona non grata in my social arena. If Rupert had held on to his social status to this point I’m sure he found that certain invitations were no longer forthcoming. Indeed, his fellows at Leopold Joseph made him choose between them and the Stones. Rupert was forced to sell out.
One feels a sort of sinking feeling in his writing as he acknowledges that Keith had sabotaged the chances of both him and the Stones. One can only hope he came out with a couple hundred million otherwise he was woefully under compensated. Rock was a world he could never have understood.
Rupert saw the Stones as a business venture without any regard of the Stones’ relationship to the expectations of their fans. Thus when he negotiated more than substantial sums for the use of Stones’ songs in advertising that was a very good business decision but a potentially disastrous situation with the fan base who saw such financial arrangements as a complete betrayal of their anti-commercialism. Rupert was frustrated that the Stones had a hard time seeing it his way.
Besides he didn’t know who the Stones were or, seemingly so. The Stones were always a minority appeal band. When Andrew Oldham cast them as the ultimate yobbo band he was limiting their appeal to a certain segment of society. In the contemporary world where modern communications allow mind sets to come into contact and maintain communications not only locally but globally mind sets were able to blast their presence into a million or millions through communications. Thus though a small percentage of the overall global population even a perversion such as sado-masochism could appear in millions, seemingly a large connected body. Effects such as this is what Warhol was doing and through associates such as Jagger and David Bailey acting globally.
While the Stones may have sold a couple two or three million globally of their records, while substantial economically, it was not that significant culturally. Beyond the yobbo mentality the Stones had little appeal. The Black And Blue album did not expand their audience but constricted it.
Of course Mick moved the band beyond mere rock and roll by making the Stones the Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey circus of rock. The show was the thing. Rupert himself usually refers to Mick as a great showman. Faint praise indeed. But, once again even though the shows generated hundreds of millions it was to an already sympathetic or curious audience. Preaching to the converted so to speak.
I think that Rupert was originally blinded by the light of the Stones publicity not realizing that he wasn’t representing a universal phenomenon but a mere yobbo fragment of the population. The money was there however. I hope he valued his services accordingly.
The last half of the book meanders with very little useful information save that Rupert negotiated with unnamed buyers to sell the Stones lock, stock and barrel much as Halston sold his name, soul and product to a major corporation.
What Rupert’s motivation was except for a huge bundle of cash isn’t clear. Perhaps in some devious way he was seeking to avenge Keith’s betrayal and cause the Stone’s the pain they caused him. In any event the idea was too novel for Keith and Mick or they were two wary so the deal didn’t go down.
Perhaps there was big money in it for Rupert so that when he lost the opportunity he lost interest in the Stones. It was shortly after the deal folded that he retired severing his relationship with the group whose fortunes he had guided quite successfully for forty years.
Rupert never satisfactorily explained why he decided to abandon his respectable merchant banking career to take up a gypsy existence with the Stones. You may be sure that if I had the choice between owning a record store or being a merchant banker I would definitely have gone into banking. Anything really. You can always buy records.

Edgar Rice Burroughs And The Revolt Against Civilization
A Review Of
Lothrop Stoddard’s Eponymous Title
by
R.E. Prindle
Stoddard, Lothrop: The Revolt Against Civilization: The Menace Of The Underman, 1922, New York, Charles Scribner’s Sons, First Edition.
In the name of our To-morrow we will burn Rafael
Destroy museums, crush the flowers of art,
Maidens in the radiant kingdom of the Future
Will be more beautiful than Venus de Milo.
Quoted by Stoddard p. 202
A perennial problem in Burroughs’ studies is what did he believe? Was he a racist? Was he an anti-Semite? Was he an irredeemable bigot? Shall we just say he was not of a contemporary Liberal frame of mind. If you listen to Richard Slotkin author of Gunfighter Nation and a professor at Case Western Reserve at the time he wrote his book a couple decades ago, Edgar Rice Burroughs was an evil man responsible for all the evil in the US from 1912 to the present. Slotkin even sees him responsible for the My Lai massacre of Viet Nam.
Himself a Communist Slotkin can overlook all the crimes of the Soviet Union in which tens of millions were exterminated to find the ultimate evil in the killing of a few dozen people in Viet Nam.
Slotkin, who rampages through his history disparaging any non-Liberal writers as atavistic bigots firmly attaches Burroughs’ name to two scholars, Madison Grant and his Passing Of The Great Race of 1916 and Lothrop Stoddard and his historical studies of the twenties. He considers the two hardly less evil than Burroughs. To someone less excitable, perhaps, or lessLiberal, the two writers have written responsible and astute studies. I certainly think they have.
When I first read Slotkin I rejected the notion that Burroughs had been influenced by either. Ten years on I have to retract that opinion. It is now clear that Burroughs read both while being heavily influenced by Lothrop Stoddard, especially his 1922 volume, The Revolt Against Civilization. While the studies of both Grant and Stoddard would at best supplement Burroughs already developed opinions The Revolt can easily be seen as a template for Burroughs’ writing after he read it. While the study complemented his own developed social and political opinions I am sure that Stoddard’s explication of the history provided Burroughs with many new facts. Based on its opinions that appeared in ERB’s novels I would place the reading somewhere about 1926 or 1927.
Contrary to what some admirers want to make him ERB was what today would be considered a very conservative man, today’s Liberals would be anathema to him. He was decidedly anti-Communist, a Eugenicist, while not bigoted he was not a Negrophile or Semitophile. He was essentially a man with a social and historical outlook that was formed before 1900, a pre-immigration outlook formed while the Indian wars were still in progress. In short he was a man of his times.
Thomas Dixon Jr. to whom he is often compared was one of the most successful writers of the period who carefully examined both the Civil War and Reconstruction as well as the growing Socialist/Communist movement. He was not a bigot as he is always construed but a man of his own people. Burroughs was influenced by his work and thought well of him. He did not abhor him. ERB read many of Dixon’s novels and admired the movie based on his books, The Birth Of A Nation. He sympathized with Henry Ford in his struggle for the welfare of America and read the Dearborn Independent, Ford’s newspaper. In short, Burroughs was a stand up guy.
Now, what evidence is there he read The Revolt Against Civilization: The Menace Of The Underman? Let’s begin with this quote, p. 34 et seq.
Quote:
Down to that time the exact nature of the life process remained a mystery. The mystery has now been cleared up. The researches of [August] Weisman and other modern biologists have revealed the fact that all living beings are due to a continuous stream of germ plasm which has existed ever since life first appeared on earth and which will continue to exist as long as any life remains. This germ-plasm consists of minute germ cells which have the power of developing into human living beings. All human beings spring from the union of a male sperm-cell and a female egg-cell. Right here, however, occurs the basic feature of the life process. The new individual consists, from the start, of two sorts of plasm. Almost the whole of him is body plasm – the ever multiplying cells which differentiate into the organs of the body. But he also contains germ- plasm. At his very conception a tiny bit of the life stuff from which he springs is set aside or carefully isolated from the body-plasm, and forms a course of development entirely its own. In fact, the germ-plasm is not really part of the individual; he is merely its bearer, destined to pass it on to other bearers of the life chain.
Now all this was not only unknown but even unsuspected down to a short time ago. Its discovery was in fact dependent upon modern scientific methods. Certainly, it was not likely to suggest itself to even the most philosophic mind. Thus, down to a generation ago, the life stuff was supposed to be a product of the body, not differing essentially in character from other body products. This assumption had two important consequences. In the first place, it tended to obscure the very concept of heredity, and led men to think of environment as virtually all important; in the second place, even where the importance of heredity was dimly perceived the role of the individual was misunderstood, and he was conceived as a creator rather than a mere transmitter. This was the reason for the false theory of “the inheritance of acquired characteristics,” formulated by Lamarck and upheld by most scientists until almost the end of the nineteenth century. Of course, Lamarckianism was merely a modification of the traditional ‘environmentalist’ attitude: it admitted that heredity possessed some importance, but it maintained environment as the basic feature.

Now there you have the argument of God in Tarzan And The Lion Man of 1933 nearly word for word. I hink it unlikely that ERB actually read Weisman who published following 1900 and who ERB may never have heard of, so his source was in all probability Stoddard.
Stoddard’s presentation nicely straddles the change of consciousness from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. It sounds a trifle naïve to our ears but was cutting edge at the time. Weisman’s theories were a big step in the direction of the discovery of DNA a short 26 years after Stoddard’s study.
It is important though to remember that more than fifty percent of the US population today rejects the concept of evolution while being more Lamarckian in outlook than might be supposed. We are as a whole not quite as advanced as we think we are.
As a quick affirmation of the influence of Stoddard on ERB on pages 95-96 he gives an account of the famous Jukes family of degenerates that appeared in ERB’s 1932 novelette, Pirate Blood.
Stoddard was well aware of what was happening historically and presently and one can see that he passed that understanding on to ERB. Almost as though writing today, on page 237 Stoddard writes:
Quote:
Stressful transition is the key-note of our times. Unless all signs be faulty, we stand at one of those momentous crises in history when mankind moves from one well-marked epoch to another of widely different character.

Extremely prescient observation in 1922 while his study has been borne out in detail. The chapter titles give a clear outline of the contents:
1. The Burden Of Civilization
2. The Iron Law Of Equality
3. The Nemesis Of The Inferior
4. The Lure Of The Primitive
5. The Ground Swell Of Revolt
6. The Rebellion Of The Underman
7. The War Against Chaos
8. Neo-Aristocracy
As can be easily seen novelists such as Rider Haggard, ERB, Edgar Wallace as well as many others from 1890 to the 20s were grappling with the problems indicated by the chapter titles.
The natural tendency in humans is to be rather lax in mental activity. Precision calls for an active mentality and concentration. Not everyone is capable of this, yet, beginning in the nineteenth century such mental qualities were increasingly necessary. Such disciplines as Chemistry and Physics didn’t allow for personal vagaries or individual style. One couldn’t bend the disciplines to one’s own desires, precise measurements were necessary requiring mental concentration. A little bit off and who knows what might happen. In a way then the Overman and Underman were created. Either you could or you couldn’t and if you couldn’t you slipped beneath- an Underman. Higher civilization was impossible for you.
Burroughs addressed this problem continually. In his character Tarzan he resolved the problem giving his creation a split personality, in a loin cloth he was one man, in a tuxedo he was another. Two separate gorillas in one and always a beast. In real life society split into two possibilities- the Over and Underman.
Worse still scientific methods were able to measure the ineffable, the unseen. In chemistry sub-tiny atoms were able to be detected and their sub-miniscule weights actually measured. Measurement is the bane of the Underman. A Mole contains 6,022 x 10 to the 23rd power of atoms, an incredible incomprehensible number that still might weigh 12 grams or less. Astonishing. Beyond the comprehension hence belief of the Underman. As the process can’t be seen it can’t be believed.
In human intelligence the Englishman Francis Galton began to devise measuring devices of intelligence in 1865 shortly after Darwin announced Evolution in 1959. Thus uncertainty about mental capacity was eliminated. As Stoddard calls it, The Iron Law Of Inferiority. Biology and measuring excluded something like eighty-five percent of the population from the ranks of the most intelligent. Without that high measurement of intelligence 85% of the population was automatically excluded from the possibility of higher attainment while at the same time being prejudged.
Big strapping fellows, all man, were relegated to manual labor while wimps like perhaps, John D. Rockefeller, became billionaires. Not right, the big strapping fellows said, but not measuring up in intelligence, which they couldn’t see, they were condemned to the shovel for life.
Intelligence measuring tests were improved between 1865 and 1920 although not as accurate as could be desired. Men entering the armed forces in WWI were an excellent testing group. Of 1,700,000 tested intelligence levels were fairly accurately determined. It was then discovered that only four and a half percent were very bright with another seven or eight percent bright, while the huge bulk were C+ to C- descending from there.
One imagines Burroughs read this with extreme thoughtfulness.
So, now as the bulk of the good things were going to those who could do, what were those who couldn’t do about it? The great issue since 1789 has been equality; the Underman demanded equality as a first condition. He could organize. He could sabotage. He could rage. And that is what the Underman has done.
The Communist Party was formed. And what was their chief demand? Equality. Absolute equality. As they couldn’t rise to a natural equality then the only other feasible solution was to bring the Superior intelligences down to their level. Thus they raged against that great equalizer, education. Screw science, screw physics, screw chemistry, screw biology. Who needed what you couldn’t see and that especially included intelligence measuring?
One of ERB’s bete noires was the I.W.W.- The Industrial Workers Of The World, syndicalists. Imagine his reaction when he read this:
Quote:
Viewed in the abstract, technical sense, Syndicalism does not seem to present any specially startling innovations. It is when we examine the Syndicalists’ animating spirit, their general philosophy of life, and the manner which they propose to obtain their ends, that we realize we are in the presence of an ominous novelty,- the mature philosophy of the Under Man. This philosophy of the Under-Man is today called Bolshevism. Before the Russian Revolution it was known as Syndicalism. But Bolshevism and Syndicalism are basically one and the same thing. Soviet Russia has really invented nothing. It is merely practicing what others had been preaching for years- with such adaptation as normally attend the putting of theory into practice.
Syndicalism, as an organized movement, is primarily the work of two Frenchmen, Fernand Pelloutier and Georges Sorel. Of course, just as there were Socialist before Marx, so there were Syndicalists before Sorel. Syndicalism’s intellectual progenitor was Proudhon, who in his writings had closely sketched out the Syndicalist theory. As for Syndicalism’s savage, violent, uncompromising spirit, it is clearly Anarchist in origin., drawing its inspiration not only from Proudhon but also from Bakunin, [Johann] Most, and all the rest of that furious company of revolt.
“Revolt!” This is the essence of Syndicalism: a revolt, not merely against modern society but against Marxian Socialism as well. And the revolt was well timed. When, at the very end of the nineteenth century, Georges Sorel lifted the red banner of Syndicalism, the hour awaited the man. The proletarian world was full of discordant and disillusionment at the long dormant Marxian philosophy. Half a century had passed since Marx first preached his gospel, and the revolutionary millennium was nowhere in sight. Society had not become a world of billionaires and beggars. The great capitalists had not swallowed all. The middle classes still survived and prospered. Worst of all, from the revolutionary viewpoint, the upper grades of the working classes had prospered, too. The skilled workers were, in fact, becoming an aristocracy of labor. They were acquiring property and thus growing capitalistic; they were raising their living standards and thus growing bourgeois. Society seemed endowed with a strange vitality! It was even reforming many of the abuses which Marx had pronounced incurable. When, then, was the proletariat to inherit the earth?
The Proletariat! That was the key word. The van, and even the main body of society, might be fairly on the march, but behind lagged a rear guard. Here, were, first of all, the lower working class strata- the “manual” laborers in the narrower sense, relatively ill paid and often grievously exploited. Behind these again came a motley crew, the rejects and misfits of society. “Casuals” and “unemployables”, “down-and-outs” and declasses, victims of social evils, victims of bad heredity and their own vices, paupers, defectives, degenerates, and criminals- they were all there. They were there for many reasons, but they were all miserable, and they were all bound together by a certain solidarity- a sullen hatred of the civilization from which they had little to hope. To these people evolutionary, “reformist” socialism was cold comfort. Then came the Syndicalists promising, not evolution but revolution; not in the dim future but the here and now; not a bloodless “taking over” by “the workers” hypothetically stretched to include virtually the whole community, but the bloody “dictatorship” of The Proletariat in its narrow revolutionary sense.
Here, at last, was living hope- hope, and the prospect of revenge! Is it then strange that a few short years should have seen revolutionary Socialists, Anarchists, all the anti-social forces of the whole world grouped under the banner of Georges Sorel? For a time they went under different names syndicalists in France, Bolshevists in Russia, I.W.W.s in America but in reality they formed one army, enlisted in a single war.
Now, what was this war? It was, first of all, a war for the conquest of Socialism as a preliminary to the conquest of society. Everywhere the orthodox Socialist parties were fiercely assailed. And these Socialist assaults were formidable, because the orthodox Socialists possessed no moral line of defense. Their arms were palsied by the virus of their revolutionary tradition. For however evolutionary and non-militant the Socialists might have been in practice, in theory they had remained revolutionary their ethics continuing to be those of the “class war”, the destruction of the “possessing classes” and the “dictatorship of the proletariat.”
The American economist, Carver, will describe the ethics of socialism in the following lines: “Marxian Socialism has nothing in common with idealistic Socialism. It rests not on persuasion, but on force. It does not profess to believe, as did the old idealists, that if socialism be lifted up it will draw all men to it. In fact, it has no ideals; it is materialistic and militant. Being materialistic and atheistic, it makes no use of such terms as right and justice, unless it be to quiet the consciences of those who still harbor such superstitions. It insists that these terms are mere conventionalities; the concepts mere bugaboos invented by the ruling caste to keep the masses under control. Except in a conventional sense, from this crude materialistic view there is neither a right or wrong, justice nor injustice, good or bad. Until people who still believe in such silly notions divest their minds of them they will never understand the first principles of Marxian socialism.
“Who creates our ideas of right and wrong?” asks the Socialist. “The ruling class. Why? To insure their domination over the masses by depriving them of the power to think for themselves. We, the proletarians, when we get into power, will dominate the situation; we shall be the ruling class; we shall determine who is right and wrong. Do you ask us if what we propose is just? What do you mean by justice? Do you ask if it is right? What do you mean by right? It will be good for us. That is all that right and justice ever did or ever can mean!

People ask what Burroughs believed? Was he a racist? Was he an anti-Semite? Well, Burroughs’ beliefs can be extrapolated from the above quote as well as Stoddard’s whole book. If Burroughs could have expressed himself concisely he would have written The Revolt Against Civilization. You don’t have to look any further.
There could be no more ardent anti-Communist, anti-Socialist, anti-IWW than ERB. The book was published five years after the Russian Revolution, a mere three years after the narrow quelling of the Communist disturbances of 1919 while in 1922 the Harding administration was putting the finishing touches on the suppression of that Communist revolution in the US. Make no mistake the crimes of 1919 were part of an American Bolshevik revolution. Things would not return to what Harding called normalcy but it would be a reasonable facsimile that would endure until the engineered great crash of 1929 opening the way for the Communist revolution of FDR in the US.
These were perilous times ERB was living in no less than those of today. One can’t be sure when Burroughs read Revolt but many of the same themes almost in quotation were employed in his 1926 novel The Moon Maiden. And from the Moon Maiden he went to the more sophisticated approaches of his great political novels from Tarzan At The Earth’s Core to Tarzan And The Lion Man.
As Stoddard thinks the Underman breeds at a very fast rate while the Overman limits his family the obvious consequence is that people of intelligence decrease rapidly in relation to the Underman. Of course Stoddard has all kinds of tables and charts to prove his point. As this was published in 1922 the results are heavily skewed to prove the English are the top of the heap; a result not uncongenial to Burroughs’ sensibilities.
One imagines that as of induction time in 1917-18 a great many of the recent immigrants at least had underdeveloped English language skills that affected the results but at this point it no longer matters; the general idea has been proved sound.
As we have a war between the Underman and the Overman and make no mistake, as far as Sorel and the Syndicalist/Bolshevik ideology goes it is a war to the knife, it may be asked what Stoddard’s formula for the Overman’s success might be.
This returns us to the Underman’s great fear that science, that is objective analysis supported by an array of facts will condemn him to the virtual condition of servitude. It might be surmised that this is an intolerable but inescapable conclusion unless education and science are destroyed reducing the more intelligent to the masses.
Stoddard then relying on Darwinian and Weismanian evolution and the notion of Eugenics introduced by Francis Galton resolves the problem by ending the reproduction of the ‘defective’ classes, that is, forced sterilization. Forced sterilization was actually employed. It is interesting that he never brings in the issue of race thus on the surface his book is neither racist for anti-Semitic. However as the book assumes that the superior intelligences are English or Nordic the text qualifies as anti-Semitic in Jewish eyes and hence has been placed on the Jewish Index Of Forbidden Literature.
One may be horrified at the Eugenic solution to the intelligence problem but one must be equally horrified at the Underman solution to their Overman problem. Liquidation is more horrifying than sterilization and Liquidation was employed by the Underman in Russia and will be employed again if they can consolidate their gains in the US and Europe today.
The problem is that while being founded in reality it is impossible in execution. The human mind is too subjective to be trusted with such a great responsibility. Many statues were placed on the books commanding forced sterilization and many such were executed.
Schools classes were organized based on supposed mental aptitudes. How objectively I will demonstrate by my own example. Until Jr. High in my home town schools did not systematically differentiate based on mental capacity, however at the end of the ninth grade just before I.Q. testing in the tenth there were three options, Trade School for those deemed not of academic ability, in other words destined for the labor force, and once in high school a division between business, that is white collar, and college prep. This was still a process of self-selection thus I signed up for high school however someone changed my papers to trade school.
Thus when I showed for classes at high school, I was told I was enrolled at trade school. Now, this was the fight of my life, and for it. I was told I was in trade school and to get out. I said I wasn’t leaving and sat down where I waited for four days for the situation to resolve itself. My argument was that the law required that I be given an education and it wouldn’t be at trade school. Whatever the behind the scenes machinations were I was reluctantly allowed to enter but they then insisted it would be business level while I demanded college prep. With an unexplained prescience I was told that I would never go to college so I should be in business. Nevertheless I won that struggle too.
I am sure that if enforced sterilization had been possible at the time I would have been compelled to undergo it.
Now, here’s the kicker. Came time for I.Q. tests and I placed in the upper four percent. I have no idea what the reaction to that was although my critics had to tone down their act. So human passions invalidated the whole Eugenic idea.
In other words there is no equable solution to this terrible human dilemma.
In that sense the solution offered by Aldus Huxley in his famous comic novel Brave New World is of some interest. In Huxley’s story he enlists science, chemistry, to produce different levels of mental competence. The zygote is nurtured in test tubes while at certain levels of development certain chemicals are introduced limiting the development of the fetus. Thus the labor problem is solved by creating classes only capable of menial tasks. The upper classes are bred like race horses to various degrees of excellence. Huxley was tongue in cheek to be sure but, actually the only solution to this otherwise insoluble problem.
Stoddard didn’t introduce any ideas to which Burroughs wasn’t already familiar and in agreement. At best Stoddard’s superb research and explication clarified ERB’s understanding for him. I don’t know how familiar he was with Georges Sorel. Today Sorel is unknown except to specialists although I am beginning to see his name pop up so with the Communist regime of Barack Obama perhaps the way is being prepared for Sorel’s extreme measures of exterminating the Overman.
At any rate I have come to the opinion that Richard Slotkin is correct in thinking the Burroughs had read and was in accord with both Madison Grant and Lothrop Stoddard. However Slotkin evaluates their work through the distortion of his own Communistic lens which is only valid to those of his point of view.
His view does not make Burroughs a racist or anti-Semite. It makes him an objective and accurate observer and analyst of the situation of his time. As indicated above Burroughs absorbed Stoddard’s information, that point of view and used it to create his wonderful works of the late twenties and first half of the thirties. If one bears Stoddard’s book in mind while reading those novels it will make them make great sense while presenting his view of the political and social situation
Of course the novels are not confined solely to dealing with these issues; Burroughs had a much more far ranging mind, both subjectively and objectively.
Stoddard’s The Revolt Against Civilization is a major study as relevant today as the day it was written. The last ninety years have only borne out his theses. The Revolt Against Civilization is well worth a read, perhaps two. At any rate you will have an accurate idea of Burroughs’ social and political beliefs.
