     Beau Sabreur shifts from the classic literary style of the mid-nineteenth century to the vernacular of pulp or, perhaps, Wold Newton era.  The pulp writers seem to have all read each other and Wren has certainly done his share of reading.

     This novel begins at a pre-Zinderneuf time when Charles De Beaujolais was a mere cadet entering the service.  If Beau Geste began in c. 1888 Beau Sabreur is set back at the beginning to perhaps 1875.  De Beaujolais’ circumstances quite parallel those of the hero of Joseph Conrad’s Heart Of Darkness.  Conrad has maintained a very respectable readership down to the present even though stoutly anti-Communist and a colonial writer.  Both Communists and Africans are working hard to bury his reputation.  It’s amazing how guys like Conrad  manage to hang on, but that may not be for long as Western influence in society declines.

     So it is that De Beaujolais is a sort of lounger applying himself to nothing in particular when his uncle recruits him for the French secret service as an agent to be attached to the African Spahis, an army corps.  His uncle says that he will severely try him and should he fail in any particular  he will be immediately dismissed.  This essentially means that if De Beaujolais lets a woman come between him and his duty it is all over for him.  So we are forewarned that there will a choice between love and duty.

     The book was written after 1917 so Wren introduces a subversive Communist or anarchist character.  In this book he assumes the name of Becque at the beginning.  In Beau Geste he went by Rastignac and late in the novel he will be recognized as Rastignac although he appears to be going by another name.  Wren has a good idea of the type describing him thusly under the name Becque:

     He was clearly a monomaniac whose whole mental content was hate- hate of France; hate of all who had what he had not; hate of control, discipline and government; hate of whatsoever and whomever did not meet his approval.  I put him down as one of those sane lunatics, afflicted with a destructive complex; a diseased egoist, and a treacherous, dangerous mad dog.  Also a very clever man indeed, an eloquent, plausible and forceful personality…The perfect agent-provacteur, in fact.

     Thus Becque in his various incarnations is always subversive, whether of army morale or working the Moslems up against the French.  This will be a major theme of the novel.  the same theme will appear in Tarzan The Invincible developed for his own needs.

     Having been recruited by his uncle, De Beaujolais is sent to a sort of boot camp to learn the hard way.  His ordeal is very convincingly described by Wren.  It seems authentic enough to make one believe that Wren himself actually experienced such an indoctrination but there is no record that he did.  He is just a consummate artist.

     While learning to be a soldier Becque attempts to recruit him as a Communist agent.  This leads to a sword fight in which De Beajuolais injures Becque but does not kill him.

     Having completed his boot camp De Beaujolais takes his station with the secret service and the Spahis in Africa.  Spahis are not FFL but a different corps.

     When the French conquered Algeria in 1830 they disrupted a thousand year old social system.  The North African Moslems had an insatiable need for slaves.  Not only did they raid European shores to abduct Whites but an immense system for deliviering Negro slaves had been in existence since the Moslem conquest.  This system had been run by the Tuaregs.  This people was descended from Whites dating back to at least the Phoenician conquest of North Africa.  Their alphabet probably precedes that of the Phoenicians.  Undoubtedly they were the descendants of the former inhabitants of Mediterranean Valley known as Libyans in Egypt flushed out by the melting of the ice age.

     What they did before the arrival of the Moslems isn’t known but with the African conquest of the Moslems they became the middle men between Africans of the Sahel and the Moslems of the North.  Every year for a thousand years the Tuaregs had collected convoys of Negroes from the South driving them North across the Sahara.  This was necessarily done with great loss of life as the Tuaregs were not that tender toward the Negroes.

     With the advent of the Atlantic Slave Trade in the sixteenth century the Tuaregs also captured Negroes and drove them to St. Louis in Senegal for sale and transshipment to the Americas.  According to James Welland the depredations on the Blacks was so great that the area around Lake Tchad had been cleared of inhabitants.  This age old life style was disrupted in 1830 by the French.  By that time Europeans had discontinued  the slave trade so that the French disrupted the trans-Sahara trade causing a disruption in the Tuareg economy from which there was no recovery.  Welland explains:

     In short, the official abolition of the slave trade, the desert tribes, the desert itself for that matter began to play a diminished part in human affairs, and the Tuareg, who had been the only link for two and a half thousand years between Central Africa and the Mediterranean- in other words, between the Negro and the White world- began to pass from the stage of history.  They were left unemployed and purposeless, with the result that they turned to intertribal war and oasis raiding to keep some semblance of  their nationhood.  Then again, as the supply of black labor dried up, the palmeries were increasingly neglected and often, as the consequence of a razzia, comepletely destroyed.  The size and number of oases decreased, sand filled the wells and cisterns- many of which had been maintained since Roman times- and the age old trails became more hazardous and finally were hardly used at all.

     In the secret service in Africa De Beaujolais becomes involved in the maelstrom of change, racial conflict and bad memories which were now exacerbated by the arrival of the non-Moslem, or Christian, French.  The novel beomes then a sort of proto-thriller.  De Beaujolais is on a mission to a town called Zaguig when he is caught up in a Moslem revolt.  In Zaguig he meets the touring Mary and Otis Vanbrugh.  Otis, you will remember returns from Beau Geste.

     Mary is the love interest in the story and she will conflict De Beaujolais between his love for her and his duty as imposed by his uncle.  Frankie Laine or Tex Ritter and songwriters Dimitri Tiomkin and Ned Washington (I tried to work Trad. in there somewhere but couldn’t do it) expressed the balance well in the song High Noon:

Oh to be torn ‘betwixt’ love and duty

Supposin’ I lose my fair haired beauty…

     De Beaujolais relates the story of another agent who chose his beauty over duty and was drummed out of the service ultimately being killed.  De Beaujolais has a premonition.  Wren cleverly resolves the choice so that De Beaujolais gets his beauty while fulfilling his duty.

     At the same time Otis Vanbrugh meets the apparent Arab dancing girl, who yet retains European features, who will figure largely in the sequel.

     As the revolt erupts these conflicts emerge.  As is usual in thrillers things are not what they seem.  Raoul D’Auray De Redon, a close friend of De Beaujolais’ remains behind disguised as an Arab to confuse their attack on a small French garrison destined to be wiped out.  De Beaujolais has important dispatches which must be delivered.  Thus duty makes him appear to be an ingrate and coward humiliating him before Mary.  His job is to locate the latest Arab Mahdi and suborn him the the French side.

     De Beaujolais thinks little of Otis Vanbrugh and we are meant to accept his opinion.  His true story will appear in the sequel.

     Mary was one of those women who flirt by taunting or ridiculing her guy.  In her case when De Beaujolais was within hearing she mockingly whistled a tune De Beaujolais couldn’t quite place but was called Abdullah Bulbul Amir.  This was a very popular song and poem of the time that can be found at  A couple of verses of its 19 will suffice to give its tenor but the poem is one you should be familiar with.

The sons of the Prophet are hardy and bold,

And quite unaccustomed to fear,

But the most reckless of life or of limb

Was Abdullah Bulbul Amir.

When they wanted a man to encourage the van

Or harass a foe from the rear,

Storm fort or redoubt, they had only to shout

For Abdullah Bulbul Amir.

     Apparently the poem was so well known that Wren felt no need to name it and he doesn’t.

      The time to leave Zaguig comes, so taking his entourage of faithful soldiers, Mary and her maid Maud, he sets out into the desert toward Oran.

     Soon Tuareg or Arab raiders pick his party up and they are forced to fight a pitched battle although from an advantageous position.  Here De Beaujolais has to make a very difficult choice between between loyalty to his men and his duty to get his dispatches through.  Getting his men into position he is compelled to abandon them to their fate and push on.

     This puts a strain on his relationship with Mary who cannot understand the concept of duty or necessity- the necessity to get the dispatches through.  After a long flight the party falls into the hands of a desert tribe.  But this is a strange desert tribe.  Rather than the usual unorganized tactics these fellows seem to have the scientific training of the French.  Another mystery.

     As luck would have it De Beaujolais and the women were captured by the Mahdi’s troops.  By way of explanation the Moslem Mahdi is equivalent to the Jewish Messiah but not the Christian Messiah.  There’s only one Christ but Jewish Messiahs and Moslem Mahdis pop up everywhere.

     So now, going back to the ending of Beau Geste, the two Americans Hank and Buddy were out there somewhere trodding the burning sands.  Hank was discovered and rescued on the point of death by a kind hearted Sheik while Buddy was captured by hard hearted Tuaregs being saved from death when Hank Sheik’s tribe defeated his captors.  Buddy was out there somewhere for a long time because Hank had been rescued years before.

     Having been rescued at the point of death Hank was aware of the necessity to pass as a Moslem so he pretends to be dumb until he has learned the language so well he can pass.  He then cleverly becomes the tribe’s sheik.   The tribe is then threatened by a razzia of Tuaregs.  As this takes place in the North Tuaregs no longer having Negroes to convoy have taken to raiding the oases.  Normally the tribe would have run and hid leaving their goods  and a few token members as slaves for the Tuaregs.  Hank has a better idea  and using his superior scientific French training the tribe rather than waiting to be attacked unexpectedly attack the Tuareg camp handily defeating them.  Buddy is thus rescued.  Coincidences are dime dozen out on the burning sands.

     Teaching Buddy the language while he too plays dumb, Buddy becomes Hank’s vizier.  With Buddy as military commander the tribe is trained in scientific methods in earnest.  They then begin to organize the tribes into a confederation thus earning Hank the title of Mahdi in French eyes.  De Beaujolais was thus on a mission to co-opt the new Mahdi.

     As luck, or coincidence, would have, at the same time De Beaujolais and the girls arrive so does Becque/Rastignac.  Becque is now employed one supposes by the Soviet Union to arouse the Moslems to a jihad.  He comes bearing gifts not realizing that Hank and Buddy are his old Legion comrades.  He doesn’t recognize them but Hank recognizes him.  Becque and De Beaujolais have that old unsettled score to settle.  De Beaujolais now settles his hash removing that source of irritation.

     I’ve pointed out before that Burroughs very likely drew inspiration for his series of political Tarzan novels from 1930 to 1933 after reading this trilogy from 1924 to 1928.  The Sahara had fascinated him long before he read Wren.   David Innes of Pelucidar even surfaces in the Sahara returning from the Inner World.  The great desert and the Sahel is not quite as we Westerners have imagined it.  The thousand year long history of amazing suffering boggles the imagination.  A thousand years of thousand mile treks from South to North, untold millions of Africans were trekked across the burning sands with equally untold millions falling along the way.  This is not all.  This is a horror story.  Welland again, p. 116:

     Even after the slave trade had been suppressed, the old life of the desert survived for a while for one simple reason…the absence of salt in the Sudan.  Nearly all the salt in Central Africa had always come from the north across the Sahara on the backs of camels, donkeys, horses and men.  The salt mines in the middle of the most terrible wastelands of the desert- at Taghaza, at Taodeni, and at Bilma- had always been worked all the year round by Negro slaves, who died within a few years of their arrival at the mines and were immediately replaced by new workers.  The salt they mined was worth its weight in gold in Timbuktu, and its transport across the desert was a considerable enterprise of unbelievable size, involving the assembling  of as many as 40,000 camels to make the quick dash from Bilma to Kano.

     Think of it.  For a thousand years Negroes were dropped down a funnel in a steady stream to live the most miserable of lives for a very few years.  Over a millennium!  Think of it.  I should think those Negroes who travelled the Middle Passage in the Atlantic Slave Trade ending up in the paradise of the Caribbean and the Americas should bless their deliverers from that African hell.

     Africans should bless the French for delivering them from total servitude and degradation.  When one digs for facts beneath the surfice, the things one finds.

     Thus without giving any historical background Wren is telling the story of how Europe saved the Africans from themselves.  Indeed, Hank and Buddy singlehandely rearrange North Africa on livable lines.  The two, in the story, break the power of the Tuaregs while establishing an African paradise in a hundred square mile oasis.  Their people are delivered into prospeirty by a million franc subsidy from France that Hank and Buddy use for the betterment of their people rather than sequestering it in a numbered Swiss bank account.  A new day for Africa indeed courtesy of Western enlightenment.

     Thus De Beaujolais accomplishes his mission to align the new Mahdi, Hank, with France while winning his fair heared beauty and pleasing his uncle.

     Hank marries Maud the maid leaving Buddy hanging out but not for long.  We still have the last of the trilogy, Beau Ideal to go.  Let’s go.

  For hundreds of years after the expulsion of the Moors from Spain the Moslems raided the European c0asts of the Mediterranean abducting men, women and children as slaves while also preying on shipping.  The newly formed United States sought unsuccessfully to suppress this Moslem piracy.  ‘Millions for defense but not one penny for tribute.’  If you remember that one from school.

     Finally in 1830 France invaded, conquered and occupied what is now known as Algeria ending the Barbary Pirates.

     An army corps was formed and named the Legion Etrangere in French, French Foreign Legion in English to pacify Algeria.  Over the next hundred years the Legion was used for peaceful penetration into the Sahara and Sahel to form the French West African Empire.

     In an astonishing turn around the Moslem power evaporated while the French easily became the masters of the bulge of Africa.  The military superiority was to last until post-WWII when exhausted by two world wars accompanied by a moral collapse as the best and brightest died on the battlefields leaving nothing but singers and dancers to live off the fat of the land.  The French were militarily capable but morally bankrupt.  The Moslems reasserted themselves in the fifties forcing the French out of Algeria while beginning the invasion of France by peaceful penetration.  A neat reversal of fortunes.  Thus the conquest of Europe interrupted by the Spanish expulsion began again.

     Immediately after the French invasion of Algeria the deserts of Africa beame a playground of Europeans.  The lure of the desert held a strange appeal for them.  Perahaps devoid of romance in their homelands the desert with its now no longer dangerous but exotic inhabitants replaced the fairies and elves displaced by the scientific revolution.  The Euroamerican romance with ‘noble savages’ and ‘inferior races’ may very well be caused by the void created by the scientific revolution.  Euroamericans hoped to find or create those emotional or psychological needs lost in the advance of civilization.  This may explain to some extent the White worship of people of color whose ‘natural’ uninhibited behavior they profess to admire and imitate.  Witness the tatooing and body piercing in imitation of the Africans who themselves appear to have to given it up.

     The French having conquered Algeria had to establish an army corps dedicated to perpetual warfare.  That unit was the Legion Etrangere or French Foreign Legion.  The duty in the Sahara amid an enemy population was so execrable  that only men without hope, that is criminals and outcasts with no other options need have applied.

     In 1831 then, a year after the conquest and annexation of Algeria as an actual Department of France the French Foreign Legion was created by Louis Philippe the new Bourgeois King of France.

     The Legend of the Legion apparently grew very quickly.  the first legion novel is thought to be that of the English writer Ouida.  She published her novel Under Two Flags in the 1860s.  It was a great success ultimately being made into a movie.  Alongside the Legion novels were a number of novels that dealt with the desert in a very romantic way.

     The genre of novel could only have developed after the French conquest of Algeria after 1830 and  a little later with the pacification of the Moslems.  If not pacification at least intimidation.  Astonishingly the centuries intervening between Roman Africa and the conquest of Algeria vanished from the consciousness of Europeans.  In only a hundred years (well, a hundred twenty-five years) a brief interlude, Europeans were in turn expelled from North Africa with their tremendous superiority shattered and in ruins.  That brief century now appears like a fairy story without real substance.  A hundred years of struggle and dieing ant then- poof!  But the stories were great.

      Fans of Jules Verne have a very good story- The Barsac Mission- that undoubteldy was an influence of P.C. Wren.  The work has only been translated recently issued in two volumes as Into The Niger Bend and The City Of The Sahara by Americor.  Some consider the novel science fiction.

     The publishers are escapist types who have retreated to Mattituck N.Y.  at the most extreme end of Long Island.  Unfortunately, as with many of Verne’s books the Barsac has been bowlderized to reflect current Liberal tastes.  The translator I.O. Evans coyly expresses it this way:  I have also taken the liberty, found necessary by most of Verne’s other translators, of abbreviating or omitting a few passage of minor interest.  (cough, cough)

     Another wonderful Sahara novel written at the same time as the Barsac is Robert Hichens’ The Garden Of Allah.  Hichens was an influence on Burroughs.  The novel was very well known at least through my youth.  I knew people with whom Hichens’ reputation was very great although I imagine there are few who would recognize his name today.

     And then ERB himself devoted a number of pages to the romance of the desert.  In The Return Of Tarzan it will be remembered that Tarzan was despatched to Algeria as a French secret agent just along the lines of Wren’s De Beaujolais.  The Lad And The Lion is of course a complete Sahara novel that appears to have had an influence on Wren.   Korak the Killer of The Son Of Tarzan operated on the margins of the desert while the Sahara plays a frequent part in a lot of the Tarzan novels.

     There is no question that E.M. Hull’s The Sheik was a major influence on Wren as he actually parodies Mrs. Hull’s novel virutally by name.

     With Wren the myth of the Sahara and the Legion comes into full bloom.

     If one has read only Beau Geste one has read an amazingly good story but to understand Wren’s intent it is necessary to read Beau Geste, Beau Sabreur and Beau Ideal in sequence.  By the time Wren wrote, the handwriting was on the wall.  The Western will had already been sapped.  The beau ideals that had inspired Western men since the days of the Arthurian epics was fading from the Western consciousness being replaced by the effete homosexual ‘ideals’ of today.   The strength and confidence that allowed Western man to subjugate the world was becoming just a memory.  Wren in his way is either commemorating the ideals or seeking to reverse the decline.

     The three novels are concerned with the fortunes of two families, one English, the other American.  Wren has a wonderful feel for the difference between the English and the American characters, not to mention the French.  His command of American dialect and hobo slang is virtually alone worth reading the trilogy.

     The first volume, Beau Geste based on Wilkie Collins The Moonstone (a so-so read) concerns the early history of the Geste brothers, Beau, Digby and John and the story of Fort Zinderneuf away out there almost beyond a hobo’s imagination.

FFL 1939: Life Magazine


     The novel does introduce the two American hoboes, Hank and Buddy, serving in the Legion.   Wren kills off Michael and Digby Geste in this first novel putting the load on John.

     In the second novel of the trilogy, Beau Sabreur (The good sword or swordsman) John returns to Africa to try to locate Hank and Buddy who were lost in the drifting sands after saving his life.

     In this manner Wren introduces the American family of which Hank is a member.  Hank and his friend Buddy were the two men lost in the desert that John Geste is seeking.  Both men lying in the desert near death in different locations were rescued by the Bedouins.  As luck would have it  Hank managed to work his way up to Sheik acquiring Buddy as his vizier.  They introduce superior Western discipline and tactics into their tribe giving them dominance in the desert.  Hank then comes to the attention of the French as the new Mahdi.  De Beaujolais is sent to coopt the new Mahdi.  Through a series of adventures De Beaujolais meets and falls in love with Hank’s sister Mary who is traveling with her other brother Otis Vanbrugh.  They as well as Hank are fleeing from a brutish father.

     At stories end the whole cast Henri De Beaujolais who had wed Mary, Otis, Hank, Buddy, John Geste and his wife Isobel, who plays a large part, are back at the ranch in Texas facing the old brute of a father down while trying to free Hank’s other sister from thralldom to the old brute so she can marry Buddy and begin a life of her own.  Hold on, now, Wren must have been studying Burroughs because he’s got a number of twists up his sleeve, or perhaps, tricks.

     While Otis was in Algeria an Arab dancing girl had fallen in love with him who was apparently the queen of the desert.  Otis tried to escape her but in exchange for help in recovering John from the penal battalion of the FFL he promised to marry her.  Aw shucks, that’s right, you guessed it.  Nakhla was in reality his sister.  The old brute had fathered her on another dancing girl when he was out making deals in the desert.  So we have Nakhla, the same name as the heroine of Burroughs’ The Lad And The Lion, pretty much following the plot line of The Girl From Farris’s.  So maybe Wren should also be included in the Farmerian Wold Newton Universe.

     So that is the broad overview of the story line that holds the three volumes together.   Before I go on to the individula reviews there is one other problem I wrestle with  that I would like to to discuss and that is the
Western fascination with primitive life styles.

     For a convenient starting point we’ll use H. Rider Haggard, no, cancel that.  I’ll go back a little further to the French Wold Newton.  I’m reading the Paul Feval Black Coats series and they have some earlier antecedents.  Balzac, Dumas, Eugene Sue and Feval all deal with organized crime groups.  A Dumas title that I haven’t been able to get is titled The Mohicans Of Paris while Feval makes several reference to crime organizations  adopting a sort of  ‘red indian’ mentality.  What Dumas called Mohicans evolved into the Apaches of late nineteenth century Paris.  Anyone who watched TV in the fifties is familiar with French Apache dancing.

     Thus while the French were becoming fascinated with the North American Indians and their primitive mentality Haggard was celebrating the primitive African mentality.  And then along comes Ouida, Verne, Hichens, Burroughs, Hull and Wren celebrating the ‘free and wild’ life of the desert.

     As of the beginning of the nineteenth century, if not before, the Euroamericans evolved into the Scientific Consciousness leaving the rest of the world behind in the mythopoeic or Religious Consciousness.  However the transition from one consciousness to the other is not a clean break.  Haggard, for instance, never really made the transition while Burroughs did.  That may be why Burroughs reads as modern if a trifle old fashioned while Haggard is purely of an anterior psychology- good but just a little stodgy.

     Thus, as the White Man spread over the globe, the, what I shall I call it, White Man’s Burden, White Man’s novel appeared.  A whole genre of either stated or implied White superiority appeared of which Haggard and Burroughs are the most promient.  From these writers the genre went on to the Sheena, Queen Of The Jungle stuff to imitative White Jungle god stories.  Conrad sang the colonial era in lyric tones.  Kipling told of the Raj of India while inventing the White Man’s Burden which was very real.

     Ouida is usually credited with the first FFL novel, Under Two Flags, while Burroughs contributed The Return of Tarzan in which Tarzan goes to Algeria as a French secret agent although not as FFL.

     In 1924 P.C. Wren wrought the glamor of the French Foreign Legion with the first novel of his trilogy, Beau Geste, followed by Beau Sabreur and Beau Ideal.  These novels are also scientific demonstrating the superiority of Euroamerican intelligence over the mythopoeic mentality of the desert tribes.  Merely by introducing European military discipline into the tribe Hank and Buddy enable the tribe to defeat all others and dominate the desert.  This while Abd El Krim and the Riff dominated Western news instilling admiration for the  primitive desert tribes over Western Civilization.  I had a tearcher in high school who would get sexually aroused just talking about El Krim.

     Thus while the transition from mythopoeic and scientific thinking was not complete if even half evolved the West was presented with various mythopoeic cultures that drew them back from the transition to the Scientific Consciousness.  At present, then, the West has a split personality in which they admire the Negro and Arab mentality so much that they denigrate their own scientific side.  It doesn’t seem likely that Euroamericans in sufficient numbers will make the transition to Scientific Consciousness quickly enough to preserve Western civilization hence the present bizarre worship of primitive races in North America and Europe.  On the other hand the rest of the world seeks to imitate the West in matters that they cannot understand or sustain on their own.  If the West is in trouble imagine the actual psychological state of things in China and India.

     Now it is time to move on the first of the reviews- Beau Geste.

     In contrasting the spiritual and intellectual attributes of the Semites and Nordics Rosenberg seems to confuse tenacity with will.  The Semites pursue their goal so tenaciously because they don’t have the intellgence to compare different intellectual and spiritual views.  There is really no intellectual progression of evaluation in the Semitic psyche.

     Contrast for instance the approach taken by the Hebrew predecessors of the jews with the Greeks in this primary problem of the evolution of society and the human psyche;  that of the change from human sacrifice to that of animal and then vegetable sacrifice.   The Semitic Bible tells the story under the title of Cain and Abel.

     At one time we are led to believe the standard approach to appeasing the gods was human sacrifice. If the Cain and Abel story had been written down c. -2000 to -1000 the content would have been about human sacrifice rather than animal sacrifice.  By c. -500 to -400 when the story was written human sacrifice, except under extraordinary circumstances had been abandoned.  Animal sacrifice was still retained by the Abelites while the Cainites had abandoned animal sacrifice for an offering of the fruits of the earth.

     As the Bible tells it the Abelites offered animal sacrifice to the god Shamash,  while the Cainites offered vegetable produce.  As the Abelites are telling the story their god being as conservative as the Abelites preferred the flesh sacrifice to the vegetable rewarding the Abelites and rejecting the Cainites.  The Abelites then lorded it over the Cainites who retaliated by killing the Abelites.

     In the Greek version as recounted by the late nineteenth century A.B. Cook in his magnum opus, Zeus, the story is told quite differently.  It doesn’t appear that Cook understood the Greek story to be their version of Cain and Abel or, in other words, the evolution of sacrifice to the gods.

     Zeus was always known as the god of the sky.  In this story he is called Zeus Lykaios thus seemingly associated with the wolf; as Cook supposes, a wolf god.

     I don’t think this is the case.  I think the tale should be something like Zeus vs. Human Sacrifice or Zeus against the wolfish practice of man eating that might be supposed a habit of wolves.  In the myth a tribesman as scapegoat is singled out, stripped naked, compelled to swim across a body of water then live for ten years in this primitive or wolfish condition.  If he passes the ten years without eating human flesh he is allowed back into the community.  One may assume that during this probationary period the community itself is forbidden human sacrifice thus ending the practice. 

     An offering is then made to the gods of a wheaten wafer.

     One can compare that story to that of the Christ who offers a glass of wine in substituion of his blood and a wafer for his body but is still a human sacrifice on the cross.

     The messages seem quite clear.  Zeus disapproves of human sacrifice and cannibalism of the human sacrifice.  The above way is the Greek way of demonstrating disapproval of the practice while the acceptance of the wafer is an example of what is considered appropriate. Semitic development is halted at animal sacrifice.

     Thus one is able to compare and contrast the psychological attitudes of the Semites and the Aryans.  Ye shall be judged by your acts.  On the one hand the Semitic story is extrememly dogmatic while the Aryan story shows more science and intelligence.

     The two attitudes remain constant down through history.

     Thus the unyielding dogmatic or bigoted approach has the advantage over a more yeilding or understanding attitude.  It is the former attitude to which Rosenberg is actually objecting.

     When developed in the religious sphere the hatred of the opposing point of view is translated into an inquisition in which the holders of the opposing viewpoint are tortured to death or burned at the stake.  Put on the cross.  The temporal authorities are called in as in the cases of the Waldenses, Cathars, and Huguenots to exterminate the entire body of the dissidents.  Whether done by Catholics, Jews or Moslems extermination of unbelievers is the inevitable result whether a single individual, tens of thousands or in the case of the current crusade, a billion of Whites.

     In Rosenberg’s case his scientific Nordics have nothing like the insane Semitic god.  Thus in the religious sphere the Whites have never had an alternative to the Semitic god hence being at a disadvantage.

     A certain type of mind prefers a storming Yahweh figure to an intelligent Zeus.  No intelligent person can accept the notion of a supernatural diety whether Yahweh or Zeus.  Thus, to some extent Hitler himself was ofered a a version of a man-god.  As no flesh and blood man can successfully pose as a god what was and is needed is an idealized man-god not as a supernatural person but as an ideal toward which one can strive.

     Perhaps it is time to create one.  Actually this has already been done.  The American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs of the first half of the twentieth century created the only acceptable version of the ideal man-god, Tarzan Of The Apes.

     Burroughs is seldom taken seriously and yet a careful reading in any  of the novels of the Tarzan series is seen to be drenched with explorations on religious themes.  Not the least important position is the need to abandon supernatural deities for a realistic man-god.

     This is not to say that any living man should be accorded the status of a god but that a god like ideal would replace the supernatural psychological projections.  After all any notion of god is merely an intellectual projection of a given people in their own image.  Thus the Greek pantheon is a reflection of the Greek psyche, Yahweh is the projection of the Jewish psyche and its god.  So with Buddha, he is merely the aspirations of the Indian psyche.

     Tarzan, it follows is a projection of Burroughs’ psyche and one might add satisfactory to millions around the world as a god like projection.  The Tarzan religion is already in place.  It remains only to develop and codify it.  Further as an ideal he is attainable to the dedicated aspirant.  When Burroughs wrote the ability to build bodies of ideal proportions  was in its infancy but has been perfected over the years to such magnificent specimens as Charles Atlas and Arnold Schwarzenegger in their primes. These two men realized the physical perfection of Tarzan.  My essay Men Like Gods looks into this aspect more closely.

     Psychological perfection can be attanined but may be more restricted than physical perfection and take longer to achieve but refined methods may be able to break the crust sooner.  As Burroughs portrays Tarzan he seems to have the essential integrated personality; that is his conscious and subconscious minds are unified.  To achieve this goal one must have an accurate idea of how the subconscious functions in relation to the conscious.  Freud’s notion of the ‘unconscious’ is completely erroneous.  I examine that problem and offer a solution in my essay on Freud a link for which is provided at the head of this essay that for some reason is titled Hello World.

     And finally in the area of intelligence we have the means to prepare the mind with accurate scientific knowledge.  Because of varying intellectual capacities that are unavoidable success in education will depend on the innate intelligence of the individual.

     Yet with the proper guidance and the ideal of the man-god before him the youth will be ale to see that to which he is to strive.  Of course, the physical is the most easily attained by nearly all healthy men; psychology and education will depend on the individual.

     The old gods are dead; they are no longer viable.  Each represented a stage in the psychology of human evolution.  It is now time to evolve into scientific man and leave the religious mind behind.

     If Rosenberg didn’t explcitly state the goal it was implied.  Edgar Rice Burroughs did state the goal and gave an example of the ideal.  The time has come for the man-god.  It remains only to set up the ideal as a beacon to draw people to it.

     In so doing an acceptable and soul satisfying ideal can be supplied to heal and anneal the troubled soul of man that so disturbed Rosenberg, troubled Burroughs and plagues the world.

     The old gods, almost dead, must go.

Bob As Messiah

     Religion is palpably untrue whether it be Christianity, Judaism or Moslemism.  The fundamentalist religious attitude is the enemy of reason and hence the mental development of mankind.  Such an attitude no longer has any place in society.  Nevertheless its influence lingers on like some spectre from the crypt of human consciousness.

     Part and parcel of religious fundamentalism is the notion of an external redeemer or messiah.  As the Piscean Age began society fixed itself on the notion that since individuals could not alter their behavior a redeemer or messiah would arise who would redeem their errant behavior.  While the notion was endemic in the ancient world at this change from the Arien to Piscean ages it found its purest expression among the Jews.

     While the Jews did not fix on any one exemplar as the Messiah the Western world did.  Thus Jesus became the  sole exemplar of a Messiah for them as they expectantly awaited his second coming.

     Christianity is at its bottom an offshoot of Judaism as is the later Arab edition of the Semitic religious group, Moslemism.  Both Judaism and Moslemism have a rather fluid notion of messianism.  Anyone may declare himself a messiah in Judaism as in Moslemism.  In Moslemism the messiah goes by the name of the Mahdi or Expected One.

     Over the centuries innumerable messiahs and mahdis have appeared, failed and disappeared while the Christian world of the West patiently awaited the return of its Jesus.  It’s been a long wait and it probably won’t end too soon.

     The appeal of messianism is very strong for the individual.  I would imagine that every boy with a Christian or Jewish upbringing has wondered whether he might be the embodiment of Jesus as the second coming or the Messiah to redeem the people.  As always Jewish claimants proliferate.  If he is not disabused of the notion by adolescence he could probably be found wandering around the insane asylum with the many other imitations of Christ.

     In the Eastern world such is not the case.   While weak personalities go under strong personalities may very well impress their fantasy on society although invariably with disastrous results.  Bob’s Jewish namesake, Sabbatai Zevi, was one of these who flourished in the seventeenth century.  Sigmund Freud was one in the last century.

     Naturally in the conflict between imagined anointment and actual realities a dual personality must come into existence, thus we have, for instance, Bobby Zimmerman and his alter ego Bob Dylan.  Beginning in the nineteenth century when science began to challenge societal religious fantasies dual personalities became more common or, at least, became more prominent in literature.

     Literature is full of dual personalities from the Dupin and the narrator of Poe through the Scarlet Pimpernel, Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and a much longer list.  One of the more amazing examples is Bobby Zimmerman/Bob Dylan the little Jewish kid and the quasi-Cowboy pop star.  Throughout his career Bob has wavered between the two, now one, now the other.  In the late seventies and early eighties he appeared to embrace Christianity for a few years and then abruptly returned to that of the Orthodox Lubavitcher Jew.  Just recently he passed through a Cowboy phase and now, as per this recent picture he has re-emerged as a Hebrew prophet complete with peyos and a vaguely demented look like some ancient Ezekiel or Jeremiah.      Disquisitions such as this will disturb the equanimity of religious fundamentalists.

     Will Bob now regale us with Jeremiads as he preached to us in 1980?  To find that answer one must go back to the now ancient past in the little Minnesota town of Hibbing up on the Iron Range.

     Bob’s memories of the North Country are as dualistic as his personality.  He speaks of bittler cold winters, so cold that one slept in multiple layers of clothes and summers so swelteringly hot and humid as to be in the Great Dismal Swamp.

     And then he was Jewish in what has been characterized as a predominantly Catholic town.  A small Jewish island in a sea of foreign culture.  In those postwar days when his Jews lived in trembling fear of an impossible American Nazi holocaust.   Jews hid their origins and culture as much as possible denying their religion and seeking to blend in as seamlessly as chameleons.  Thus it was as young Bobby Zimmerman entered high school.  Then in 1956 as he approached the massive front doors of his high school the Jews of the eight year old State of Israel fought a lightning war with the surrounding Arabs.  Instead of being driven into the sea sas the Arabs propesied they themselves were humiliated and driven back.  How now?  The Jews became assertive in their identity emerging to challenge the dominant culture for supremacy.  They ceased to be humble, hence, the sixties.

     Already masters of Hibbing’s retail district one imagines they began to flex their muscles without fear of gas chambers.  Foremost among them, the President of the local chapter of B’nai B’rith and the ADL, was little Bobby Zimmerman’s own father, Abram.  Abram took to smoking huge black cigars, a sure sign of aggressive manhood.

     Years later when Bob Dylan had immured Bobby Zimmerman behind walls like in Poe’s Cask of Amontillado, Bob Dylan would return to Hibbing and combine the two images of his childhood of the two Zimmermans as he sat on a motorcycle on a corner smoking an immense black cigar.  What vision of vengeance was this?  As one of his cowboy heroes, Hank Snow, sang:  I’ve got a troubled mind.

     Bob’s father Abram viewed himself as something of a Jewish scholar.  He had a bent toward the Orthodox even toward the Lubavitcher.  In 1954 as his son’s Bar Mitzvah approached he sent for a Lubavitcher Rabbi to instruct his son in the puerilities of the Lubavitcher approach to Judaism.  The Rabbi, one Reuben Maier, was undoubtedly brought to Hibbing on a one year trial contract.  When the year was up and the congregation had rejected him he left.

     In telling of his Bar Mitzvah indoctrination Bob dramtizes Rabbi Maier’s arrival as a mystery with himself as the messianic center of the mystery.  As he tells it one day a Greyhound bus ground to a stop at the Hibbing terminal; the Rabbi stepped off and said:  Where’s Bobby Zimmerman, I’m here to indoctrinate him into the Lubavitcher mysteries.  I exaggerate for effect of course but true to the spirit.  Then having taught Bobby what he was supposed to learn he reboarded the bus and disappeared down Highway 61 as mysteriously as he arrived.  It could have seemed that way to a thirteen year old.  The key point is that Bobby learned what the Rabbi had to teach.  As Bob said he taught him what he had to know.

     If the accounts are correct Bobby Zimmerman’s was the first Bar Mitzvah in town for several years and it was huge.  Four hundred or more people were in attendance.  One assumes that the loot collected was beyond the avarice of the average thirteen year old.  Bob boasted of the Bar Mitzvah for years.

     But of more importance for us is what information Rabbi Reuben imparted to Bob.  I have pointed out in Fit 2 that Rabbi Maier was associated with Rabbi Schneerson in Brooklyn, New York.  Schneerson had strong notions of the superiority of the Jew to all other peoples while having a strong notion of the messianic nature of Judaism in bringing the word of the Jewish god to the peoples.  This is absolutely undeniable and calling someone who tells the truth to you an anti-Semite will not change the truth.  Such an accusation only makes the accuser look an ignoramus.

     It would seem to follow then that Rabbi Maier could teach his young disciple nothing other than the prevailing Lubavitcher doctrines of Rabbi Schneerson.

     Indeed in later life Bob Dylan would write the symbolical song Quinn The Eskimo while after his Christian stint say words to the effect:  ‘You know what?  Things are going to fall apart and all peoples are going to run to the Jews to save them.  But, guess what,  the Jews won’t be able to do it because they haven’t lived according to the Law.’   Sounds just like the Protocols, doesn’t it, Sean?

     Now, where do you suppose Bob would pick up an idea like that?

     Enduring heavy Jewish indoctrination during his high school years Bob was also conflicted by his immersion in the dominant culture thus contributing to his dual personality.  Thus we have Cowboy Bob who listened to endless hours of Country and Western and we have Rabbi Bob using his pulpit to preach Jewish tenets, whether in Christian form or not, to what passed for his faithful.

     Starting from a low base Bob was actually to gather a following of millions as of this date.  Many if not most of them see him as either a Christian savior or a Jewish messiah.

     Young Bobby Zimmerman left Hibbing in a state of Mixed Up Confusion that it would take him decades to order as much as he ever has.

     I hope I haven’t unduly offended anyone but the fanatics to this point.  They will always scream anti-Semite at anyone who challenges their cherished fantasies.  They are religious fundamentalists and are to be scorned by any intelligent people.  Disrgard them.  Laugh at them.  If the reader will find the story anti-Semitic then all I can say is that he or she find the truth anti-Semitic.

Organizing The Revolution

      This essay is an investigation of cultures and cultural beliefs especially as they apply to the United States.  The above Tibetan proverb as can readily be seen is pre-scientific.  It takes no account of the objective world but supposes only that world is a projection of the mind good or bad as the mind is clean or foul.

     It tacitly states that all religions are products of the mind or minds that conceived them.  As projections they comment on the cleanness or foulness of the projectors.

     As my own ideas of psychology are passes through a Freudian lens my argument is based on the scientific aspects Freud assembled while rejecting his religious projection.  It should be clear to any thinking person that no religion has been transmitted to man from any god.  Such a notion is inconceivable as is the very notion of God which to the Western mind means the Yahweh of the Old Testament.  God therefore is the projection of the mind on nature.  This concept is clearly brought out in Johann Sebastian Bach’s musical piece; Jehu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring.  Man desires redemption in the form of Jesus but the divine Jesus is only a projection of Man’s desiring.

     The nature of the fantasy is that God has chosen a certain people to be the bearers and disseminators of his word to all the peoples of the world.  The originators of this notion were the Jews who believed and believe themselves to be the elected Ones.  After the death of Jesus the English believe that the scepter of empire was passed to them while Anglians in the United States forming the Liberal religion believe the scepter has passed to them as in the adage:  Westward the course of Empire.

     As the notion is based only on desire or wishful thinking its believers were doomed to be disappointed.  Thus a defense mechanism must be projected on top of the projection of a chosen people.  One then invents the notion of a redeemer- the Messiah, the Mahdi, the Christ.  In Christan theology there can be only one Messiah, the Christ, whose mission on Earth was aborted by the crucifixion.  Christians await the RETURN of the Christ in a supernatural manner.

     For Jews and Moslems the messiah can be any human who so proclaims himself.  David Bakan thinks that Freud was the Messiah for instance.  Both religions have a surfeit of messiahs all naturally having failed to produce the desired results.

     The history of the Jews since their defeat and scattering by the Romans in 70AD  has been a succession of failed messiahs.  Failure has not daunted this belief but the Jews have changed tactics and strategies.  The last Jewish messiah to step forth and be recognized as such, unless like Bakan you include Freud, was the seventeenth century Sabbatai Zevi. (Spelled several different ways so don’t take me to task for my spelling.)

     It is significant that a seventeenth century claimant was the last because the European Enlightenment blossomed at nearly the same time.  The Enlightenment means Science.  Science points out the absurdity of religious projections.  Thus all religions have been shown to be based on false premises.

     The meaning in terms of Human Consciousness was the consciousness of the mind had now evolved beyond a predecessor Religious Consciousness.  Merely because a better method has been found doesn’t mean everyone will embrace it.  There are many people and institutions who have a vested interest in the old way and don’t mean to give it up.  Moreover they don’t mean for the advance in consciousness to exist.

     For our purposes here we are discussing Christianity and Judaism: The West and Judaism.  There had been many changes before in the evolution of religious beliefs, most notably the transition from Matriarchy to Patriarchy and they had all involved long and bloody wars.  The transition from Religion to Science can be no different.  If you haven’t noticed, the reactionary Semitic religions have instigated increasing wars and bloodshed from 1914 to the present Second Irruption From The Desert of the stultified reactionary Moslems.

     Vis-a-vis the Roman Catholics and the Protestants the Jews had always been able to hold their own on a theological basis.  After all, their religion is the basis of Christianity.  The Jews had no chance against Science which acknowledges none of their claims.

     The Jews would therefore have to devise new tactics and strategies to defend their atavistic belief system.  There was no religious argument they or any other religion could devise to defeat this intelligence; their only alternative was to corrupt it and destroy it from within, thus supplanting Science in the minds of men with their stultifying religion once again.  Difficult perhaps, but possible given a shameless exploitation of the good will of Euroamericans.

     Now, when the failure of Sabbatai Zevi occurred and the Scientific spirit arose against which religious argument was ineffective, the wisemen of Judaism put thier heads together to devise a strategy.  They decided to never again acknowledge a human messiah but to place their hopes in their whole people in the form of a revolution based on the French Revolution.

     From the French Revolution the modern form of Communism emerged.  The Jacobins of Robespierre were proto-Communists.  The banner was picked up by a man named Babeuf and the Communist assault on society led through the revolutions of 1830 and 1848.  The French Revolution took place at the beginning of the so-called Industrial Revolution so that all the miseries inherent in the transition from one system to another were visited on ‘Labor.’  Labor was subsumed into the Communist agenda.  Early socialism was divided between the Utopian  Socialists and the Communists.  The cleavage was permanent as Socialists and Communists despised each other’s methods.

     Now, the Jews were emancipated by the generous feelings of the Revolutionaries.  Up to this point the Roman Catholic Church had more or less contained Judaism.  That is they isolated the Jews from the body politic much as a computer virus is isolated by a security system.  A psychological allegory of this was put into a short story by Charles Beaumont in 1959.  The short story was entitled, The Howling Man.  In the story monks had imprisoned the Devil.  A chance traveler was admitted to the monastery but advised to pay no attention to a captive man, the Devil in disguise, who howled for release.  Naturally the traveler listened to the well sounding pleas of the howling man releasing him.  Thus evil was set loose on the world.

     This is somewhat the situation between the Church, the Revolutionaries and the Jews.  Negating the efforts of the Church the released Jews began to subvert society and science.  When one says Science in regard to the post-Revolution one is saying actually Science in embryo.  Every science and scientific thinking were in the beginning stages of development.  Early theories, absurd by today’s understanding, cannot be judged by today’s knowledge.  They were the beginning steps.  Like everything else Science would evolve.  As it had with the Jews, the Revolution released Science from the control of the Church allowing it to develop, but positively, not negatively.

     The Jews realized the threat to their religious mental projection understanding that Science was the true danger that had to be subverted.  Unlike Catholicism and Protestantism which were based in Judaism and could therefore be defeated in argument there was no religious argument effective against Science.  A different approach would have to be taken.  That approach was to appropriate a science with mumbo jumbo then slowly eviscerate the science of its content while supposedly making it moral or in other words subservient to Jewish religious beliefs.  This required both bold assertions while suppressing discussion or channeling it so that it could be controlled.

     The first attempt and the most developed ‘science’ was politics.  Thus Karl Marx began to appropriate the Communist Movement giving it a definite shape and direction.  Seizing on the discontent  of Labor Marx made that the cornerstone of ‘Scientific’ Socialism.  Thus from 1789 to 1913 Communism struggled against the established order with minimal result.  A mere one hundred twenty-five years after 1789 Communism established itself in Russia while being on a parity with the establishment in Western Europe.

     The other Sciences progressed accordingly.  Biology assumed its modern form in 1859 when Darwin published his Origin Of Species.  Biology remained one science for which no Jewish claimant arose.  The study of the mind or psychology was a different story.  The study of psychology in a mythopoeic manner goes back as far as can be traced and further.  The ancient Egyptians already had a good working model of the mind.

     The scientific study, groping as it were, was undertaken by numerous people in the early nineteenth century.  There was no organized theory, just investigation in numerous areas.  The most noteworthy investigator for our purposes here was Jean Martin Charcot and his investigations into hysteria at the Salpetriere in Paris.

     It appears that the basis of psychological malfunctioning is caused by a variety of hypnosis.  That is a suggestion is made in a hypnoid state which enters the subconscious as post-hypnotic suggestion directing the individual against his conscious will, as it were.

     The modern recognition of hypnosis was made by the Austrian Anton Mesmer who called it ‘animal magnetism.’  After Mesmer hypnotism was in disrepute for about fifty years although subject to serious investigation by responsible scholars.

      Charcot made hypnotism scientifically respectable again when he discovered its use in dealing with his hysterics.  At the same time a man named Auguste Liebeault working with hypnotism in nearby Nancy was discovering the effect of suggestion.

     In Vienna a restless Sigmund Freud was casting about for an emerging discipline to appropriate to make his mark.  He had been trained as a biologist but despaired of making his name in that discipline.  Under the influence of his fellow religionist, Joseph Breuer, he drifted over into psychology.

     Freud was of the Jewish culture and he was militantly Jewish.  He hated Europeans and the European culture.  There is no question but that he intended to replace it with the Jewish culture.  At what point he decided to manipulate the emerging science isn’t clear but probably by the time he began attending B’nai B’rith meetings in 1895.

     Freud had a Moses Complex, not too dissimilar in effect than Christians with a Jesus complex.  He undoubtedly chose psychology as a wide open field with many areas of exciting research possibilities and the opportunity  to gratify his Moses Complex by leading his followers out of the psychological wilderness he found Europe to be.  Thus as Moses rescued the Jews from Egypt Freud would rescue them from Europe.

     Vienna as part of the polyglot Austrian Empire was the original Melting Pot from which Israel Zangwill took his idea.  A relatively small German minority governed a multi-cultural empire embracing dozens of cultures and numerous religions.  Thus the model for Freud’s conquest by culture was already suggested to him by the rising influence of Jewish culture within the Austrian Empire especially polyglot Vienna.

     Having begun his association with Breuer and having heard of Charcot, Freud left for Paris in 1882 to visit what he derogatively would call the Great Man, himself.  While Freud resented the ‘Master’ it would seem that Charcot’s influence on his own approach was seminal.  There would have been no Freud without Charcot.

     During this period of his life Freud was impoverished.  He could only wander around Paris without the means to sample the delights of the city.  This embittered him.  Freud would have us believe that he became a favorite of Charcot, even petted by him.  In all likelihood this is a gross exaggeration.  Although Charcot may have taken some notice of him it would be characteristic of the Jewish culture to exploit any relationship out of its true proportion.  In reading Freud his observations of Charcot are always made from the outside as a seeming voyeur, never as an intimate.

     It is clear from the sardonic, belittling tone in which Freud always refers to Charcot that he was profoundly indebted to him.  It must have been humiliating to a man with a psychotic attachment to Moses to submit to a man he considered his lesser.  In dealing with hysterics Charcot brought hypnosis into respectability.  Freud’s understanding of hypnosis was subtle.  In Freud’s own psychoanalytic theory he abandoned hypnosis per se choosing a variant he called free association in which the patient was lulled into a hypnoid state so that a form of hypnosis remained the basis of psychoanalysis.  Nor did Freud’s researches into hypnosis stop there.  After the Great War hypnosis would form the basis of his ideas of Group Psychology.  He developed subtler forms of hypnosis.

     After returning to Vienna he once again went back to France in 1889 to visit with Liebeault and his disciple or leech, Hippolyte Bernheim.  Liebeault had been working with hypnosis for some time.  While Charcot failed to understand the signficance of suggestion, the key element of hypnosis, Liebeault did.  His researches attracted the attention of Bernheim who like Freud was a Jew on the make.  Bernheim succeeded in displacing Liebeault much in the same way as Freud would displace Charcot and his school.

     While Liebeault and Bernheim apparently did not understand the relationship of suggestion to the creation of the neurosis or psychosis they had actually discovered that hysteria was caused by a form of suggestion.  Ignoring the original suggestion while the patient was hypnotized they tried to use counter-suggestion to remove the affects of the original suggestion or fixation but with limited or temporary success.  Since the original suggestion or fixation wasn’t obviated it shortly reestablished its primacy over the counter-suggestion.

     While Freud said he rejected the clumsy ineffectiveness of the counter-suggestion he understood suggestion well enough to make it the cornerstone of his version of Group or cultural psychology.,

     There is a common misconception that Freud invented psychology, that before him there was no psychology.  The notion is completely untrue.  Before and after Charcot psychological research was diverse and plentiful throughout Europe and America.  There were many theories of the subconscious, for instance, but no one had undeertaken to systematize  the various strands.  Freud was able to do this while at the same time supplanting all other theories with his own.  He actually succeeded in closing off investigation along other lines channeling psychology into his own somewhat flawed system.

     All Freud did was to cull the best opinion and put his name on it while shouldering the originators aside as ‘anti-Semites’.  For instance, another student of Charcot, Pierre Janet, working from the same teaching came to the same conclusion, namely that ‘neuroses’ are fixed in the subconscious.  Whereas Freud named his version of the process ‘repression’ Janet named the result as an ‘idee fixe.’  Both terms mean approximately the same thing, although in my opinion Janet’s is more accurate.  My own term is ‘an encysted fixation’.  I came to my term independently, or at least I think I did, this is Freudianism you know, but the term I use means, I think, what Janet’s idee fixe means.  Freud’s term ‘repression’ may describe the process but doesn’t deal with the result.

     As I see it repression implies a voluntary act of will but such is not the case, repression is involuntary functioning independently of the conscious will.  This is where Freud’s theory of sex goes wrong.  The ‘repression’ is part of a defense mechanism.  When the ego or Animus is offered an insult for which it has no defence the response is to repress the insult into an encysted fixation or idee fixe in an effort to control it.  In other words, the mind tries to pretend that the insult didn’t occur.  As the sexual apparatus is the physical portion of the psychic Animus the expression of the fixation will ivariably be a sexual affect although of differing manifestations from masochism to sadism.  Thus the insult is converted into a suggestion of inadequacy of some form.

     Thus the use of the sexual apparatus is merely an attempt to massage or exorcise the fixation.  Freud actually believed that frequency of ejaculation would make a healthier person or in other words sexual intercourse would cure the ‘neurosis’ or in my and possibly Janet’s term eliminate the fixation.  Clearly an impossible method.

     One may compare the fixation to a virus on your computer.  Once the virus is introduced it must be isolated and removed  or it will control or shut down the computer.  The virus may be equated with the suggestion that resulted in the fixation.  One must eliminate the suggestion or fixation from mind as with the virus from your computer’s memory.

     This is where the ‘talking cure’ is effective.  Once the fixation is identified if the afflicted person can make the fixation conscious it will disappear or in another word be exorcised.  If Freud realized this, which he ought to have, he never published his knowledge.

     His use of the unconscious indicates that he at least understood the negative effects of fixations as expressed through their affects or in his terms neuroses and psychoses.

     So Freud defamed Janet while organizing psychoanalysis to exclude any opinion but his own no matter how inaccurate.  He organized and controlled the magazines and publishing houses, while he controlled and convened the international congresses.  Following the Jewish Cultural model, no dissent was allowed, there is no freedom of expression in the Jewish Culture; if you refuse discipline you are merely excommunicated.  Once expelled you are defamed and rendered inconsequential.  Marginalized in today’s terms.  The only analyst to survive this treatment was C.G. Jung who had an awful lot going for him.  I can’t think of another dissident who has survived to the present.

      Thus having evolved  an understanding of emasculation to add to the mix this was how Freud’s psychological matters stood in 1915 when his idea of psychoanalysis was essentially complete.  He now applied his psychological knowledge to political matters.  At this point whatever scientific basis Freud possessed was subsumed to Jewish religious requirements.

     Historically the Jews have been a migratory people.  When the going get tough the Jews get moving.  Wherever the action is that’s where they want to be.  Thus when the Promised Land of America became accessible to mass migration, that is reliable steamships had replaced unreliable sail, the People began a mass migration to America.  The intent was to move the entire Eastern European population to America.  The plan failed only because of the outbreak of the Great War for which signficant scholarship can show the Jewish guiding hand.  So, in one way the Jews defeated their own plan.

     The important thing to remember is that Jewish activities are backed by an inviolable ideology, tight orgzanization and fairly precise coordination and excecution.  There is nothing haphazard in the culture’s activities.  This has been true for two millennia with increasing precision.  As noted when the messiahship of Sabattai Zevi failed, the plan was formed for the whole people to foment a revolution.  The date of the revolution was set for 1913 to 1928.  Hence if you study Jewish history you can see the preparations unfold leading to this historical knot.

     Since Marx the culture had been in control of the Labor movement of the Socialists so that a significant portion of the whole population was involved not just the minority culture.  The more timid or moderate such as the Wilsonites and other ‘parlor pinks’, fellow travelers and whatnot, Liberals, were distributed throughout society where they could exercise control without revealing themselves in their true guise.

     While I had sifted the information out except for the dates of the messiahship of the culture all I really had to do was read one book.  That book was by the Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver who plainly stated the plan and its objectives giving the years.

     This revolutionary schedule could not have been unknown to Freud.  Thus his schedule from 1895 on must have been coordinated with it as best he could and that best was very good indeed.  By 1910 he had his theories in close to final form.  From 1915 on, especially after 1917 he was no longer developing his ideas but organizing them for use by the Revolution.

     For years he had been attending weekly meeting of B’nai B’rith, the international Jewish brotherhood.  He lectured them on psychology on a regular basis.  It would be interesting to know how the lectures differed from his published work.

     Now for a moment let us consider some aspects of Freudian doctrine.  Freud insisted that the was a scientist but the grounds for such a claim seem tenuous at best, rather Freud was a religionist who used what he learned for the furtherance of the Jewish Revolution.  Thus his concepts of the unconscious and sex were tailored to upset the morality of European civilization.  His promulgated notions were meant to confuse and obfuscate.  When one combines Freud’s interpretation of the unconscious, sex and emasculation, all of which were worked out by 1915, one has in fact a potent weapon of psychological warfare.  They called it brainwashing during the Korean War.  Combined with conditioning and indoctrination  trusting Euroamericans who did consider Freud a disinterested scientist abandoned all defenses.

     The really noteworthy fact about Freud is that he offered only negative analyses but nothing positive such as how to reconcile the unconscious and conscious minds or how to understand and improve the conscious mind.  Freud discussed the nature of projection and perception very little.  The nature of the ‘science’ Freud professed to embrace is the negation of perception and projection without which there can be no science.  At least he chose not to address consciousness in any positive manner.

     He did issue the enigmatic statement that where Id was Ego shall be.  He also said that the Id was a species of something around which the Ego ensheated itself.  That’s a tough one.  As Ego is presentative of consciousness and Id unconsciousness it sounds as though Freud was referring to the integration of the personality.  He doesn’t explain how he invented or discovered the nature of the relationship of Ego and Id or give any indication of how it actually worked.  He never develops the idea.

     We feel that he perhaps knew more than he chose to reveal through his analysis of Wilhelm Jensen’s novelette Gradiva that he titled Delusion and Dream In Wilhelm Jensen’s Gradiva.  By delusion I presume he means projection.  That is what Jensen’s character is doing; he is imposing his inner projection on society which makes actions appear irreal.  It is only as the story develops that the character’s projection dissolves as reality  intrudes itself more and more.  At the end of this short piece the character emerges into a true or truer perception of the world.  He no longer casts his projection on reality.

     Thus what Freud denotes delusion I would call projection.  Ridding onself of a mistaken perception of reality to realize as nearly as possible the actual state of affairs is the goal of mental health.

     While what Freud has to say about the unconscious is itself a religious projection it does bear some relationship to the reality.  Since Freud wished to and did impose a psychological  system on the science of psychology it behooved him to deal with the whole mind and not just half.  The question is whether he was dishonest or incapable; I opt for dishonest and criminal.

     Freud is as guilty of criminal misconduct as the Sudanese Mahdi at Omdurman who offered his followers the religious projection that the bullets of the massed British machine guns facing them would turn to water at Allah’s will.  If the Mahdi had so little scientific knowledge and so much religious fervor then there was no difference between his religion and insanity.  The Mahdi at least had the excuse that he was far from the centers of scientific research.  Freud didn’t.

     By the advent of the Russian Revolution then, through his association  with B’nai B’rith Freud had prepared the Jewish cadres for some particularly dirty work.

     As the Russian Revolution marked the first great success of the Jewish Revolution Freud now began to manipulate his scientific knowledge of hypnotism and psychology to confuse and obfuscate the minds of the Euroamerican cultures while keeping his culture’s mind focused on the work ahead.

     Everything was in order; the tools were developed.  Freud had  cleverly monopolized the study of the mind if not psychology.  Further study would be conducted on his terms.  It was only necessary now to skillfully use the tools he developed.
